those guys with mazda 3(the 2.3) think their cars are the stink, but no.
I accidentally raced a mazdaspeed3 at the track thinking it was the regular one.
man o man. That guy ran a 13.4, but it looked a heck of a lot faster.
Oh yeah, I still hate Honda's

my 2002 focus killed a mazda 3 i dont no how but it just does all i have in it is a cone filter i raced 2 so far and i won all the races ,,,oh ya a nother thing in a ford focus weight makes a big diff so make sure who evers with u is not fat by my self i can get it 0-60 in 8sec

on the track, my friend and i decided to go for a spin (2 of them own Mazda 3 with different engine sizes) i have beat the 2.0 Mazda 3 off the straight line, barely got past Mazda 3 2.3, but I am not gonna try the Speed3. I have a lot of bolt-ons though. however, when I am done with my Focus, the Mazda 3 2.3L will be my next car though.
So I guess it all depends on the driver's ability and how much modifications you have
and yes my ZTS is an auto and 2.0 zetec.

did you see this page? he dynoed just the "stealth" cai and it added 6hp and 7ft/lbs TO THE WHEELS. not bad, and you can feel it, really helps with response times and such.
and fororec, this is possible on yours too, just take off the top half of your airbox, and take out the filter, then get one of those cone filters and stick it on the end of the existing tubing. as i've said above, we did this to a friends zx4 with zetec, and it helped alot as well.

|five-speed2.3||yea, i just dont want you to hurt it in the long run. plus she'll be a lil faster after a break in. i think i saw on the steeda site a CAI or SRI for an 08, might be worth checkin out ;)|

I'm sort of pushing the car already though, o well I have full-syn oil in, and it runs quiet and smooth, so no complaints so far.

that time, the 16.1, is what my 2.3L has been said to run, and i ran a 15.9 first time at a drag strip with no power mods and bad front tires. i dont think they launched right lol.
take out your spare and run like 1/8th tank, give yourself the best chance. next time i go to the track (after some power mods) im gonna drop weight, should help ALOT.
side note....i wouldnt run your 08 too hard until its broken in! get some good mileage on it before you start runnin it hard ya know.
