Fordguy321 Hey guys, im John, from New Jersey and I have a 2001 Focus zx3... I went from a 2000 Mustang GT to this focus and I have to say I love it. I just wish there was more power, but that is what a turbo is for...right??? hahaha. I have been dealing with Ford for most of my life and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with any of the Fords that I have owned. Cant wait to get to know you guys better and fill my brain with MOAR CAR KNOWLEDGE!!!!

lil_spc Hi my name is Ben

About two months ago I took a new club managers job and had to get rid of my big 4x4 and go to a gas mileage car. After researching and looking around I found my little 2003 SE Wagon. Now most would laugh but I needed to be able to haul tons of stuff for the club so I fell in love with it. After some much needed mods I'm happy at this point and got more on the way. Found this site looking for parts and quick engine mods. Looks like a great site and can't wait to read more threads.

Okay so here is my story. In August 2013 I was finally ready to let my 99 Firebird go because of it needing a overhaul to the entire electrical system. I went to the dealership dead set on getting a import so I told the salesman that I wanted a 2 door 5 speed car. I failed to mention the "import" part. The salesman said he didn't have any vehicles that matched what I wanted and proceeded to try and sell me a 2010 Ram and a 2014 Cruze. I declined and walked away. Next day I came back out of curiosity and they tried to sell me a Fusion and a Altima. I got kind of ticked and explained again to the salesman what I wanted and reiterated the point to the "manager". I walked out, done with the dealership and fed up with the games. The next day the salesman called me and said that his manager had just told him to notify me that he had recieved a car which met what I was wanting. I asked what it was, his response has "I don't know, I was just told to call you. " I finished the conversation politely with a vague assurance I might come in but felt that was honestly not going to happen. I was running errands later that day and my curiosity got the better of me so I went back to the dealership. I didn't see any two door import 5 speeds on the lot so I went inside to get more information. The manager and salesman took me outside and pointed at a dirty 2008 Focus Se and I had to resist the urge to laugh. My response was "a focus. Huh." Their response was "it's what you said you wanted, you want to take it on a test drive". I was finding the entire situation hilarious at this point and it just got better when the salesman said it needed fuel, I would have to drive him to the gas station to put fuel in it because he did not know how to drive a stick and then I can test drive it as much as I wanted. I did a initial walk around then agreed to a test drive. After gassing up I literally test drove that car for forty five minutes. I was amazed. This little car is fun. Coffee stain on the front seat but the body and paint was excellent for a 5 year old car. The gas mileage impressed me and so did the ride. I left with them giving 2k over book for the Firebird and under book price for the focus. I took it to auto zone immediately and installed a new airworthiness then changed to a full synthetic blend. In the last year the only issue i have had has been replacing the original battery (learned how to roll start her a few times before I replaced it lol) . I hand wax her regularly, 5 percent on the windows. Reblackened all the trim and as of yesterday now has vht tinted headlights and taillights. We have now decided that the Focus project is go and I will be doing a complete blackout on her. (Grille, Rims, badging, lowered 1.5", turbo or 302 swap, complete interior swap, and a moonroof install. I plan on doing all of the work myself. We have discovered that our Focus is part of us and we plan on keeping this car as part of our family for as long as we can. 2008 Ford Focus SE 2.0 5 speed.
Foccherone,

I think your story sounds a little familiar to a lot of Focus owners. We don't think much about the car until we start driving it. Then it starts to all make sense. It is so much fun to drive a little standard, but it is very practical as well. It has great gas mileage and is very affordable. They definitely grow on you very quickly.
I look forward to seeing pictures of the fun little sports car.

The main objective with this car is to have as reliable a rig as possible with functional modifications and some aesthetic mods to keep it professional. I use the car mostly for work and am shocked at how amazing the trunk of this car is designed for packing things in. I own a company of technicians who sell and service espresso machines and coffee equipment and the little wagon is the unsung hero. Who needs a Transit when this wagon fits all our needs?

Basic mods: K&N panel filter, FSWerks spark plug wires, SES Focus 17-inch wheels (on generic tires that need to be upgraded), painted SVT mirrors, SVT steering wheel, SVT e-brake handle.

And yes, we fit two espresso machines (about 125-150lb each) and a coffee brewer in the car pretty easily.

Focus Fixer Too I have been a Focus owner for about 2 - 1/2 years. I purchased a 2001 wagon from a dealer - Before purchase I took the vehicle on a 150 mile test drive to check the gas mileage et al... I also took it to my favorite repair shop and had a $50 inspection. Shop found several items - rear tires were legal but not much tread. I gave the dealer the list from the shop, and they fixed or replaced everything on the list - including a two new rear tires. Last year I changed the drum brakes and brake line - last week new rotors and pads. Today the dumb directional switch broke - so I read all about it on this web site...Aside from the AM radio cutting in and out - unannounced - and a few other minor problems, it works good. I'm going to have the car rust proof'd in a few weeks
