Pistonbroke What engine do you guys think is the easiest to balance or the most naturally balanced? What configuration and number of cylinders?

There is much to learn about engine harmonics, balance, vibration etc. It's pretty deep engineering. It's one of the "boring" things about engines.

aluminum has totally different expansion and stress characteristic properties than does steel.
creating a harmonic balancer out of aluminum would subject it to stresses the metal cant withstand.

All this talk about balancing and no one word said about Harmonics , why is this debate allways taken into left field about Balance and not much if anything said about what it balances

Yeah...because a RC airplane engine is exactly the same as a car engine...and I'm sure disassembling a RC airplane engine is equally as difficult and time-consuming as taking even a relatively simple four-cylinder apart to replace internal parts.
