Also, don't be too quick to judge a Benz on the street as a slow and ponderous luxury boat.
Jim Smith is driving a 92 190E (2.3 motor) with over 200,000 miles on the odometer.
He got me by nearly a second.
Respect the Tr-Star.

Results are in !!!
DAMN YOU GTI !!!
Seriously, I got spanked. John is a GREAT driver and deserves all the kudos coming to him.
He started with us 3 years ago having never been to an AX. You hear people talk about natural ability. I don't have it. All of my success (or lack thereof) is based on experience and TRY!
This is the first year he is on R-compound tires and he is driving the wheels off. I will have my hands full...
Official results here:
Come out and play!

My pleasure and it was great to meet you!
Hopefully, we didn't bore you too much with wisdom and old war stories...

As for the bad days...oye.
It really was a mental challenge this time. I would fly through one part only to screw up an apex in another section of the course.
Rightly or wrongly, I tend to break courses up into segments using the straights to get my bearings and adjust. Just couldn't get it to come together this time.
BUT, that's why we do this. Continuously improve and take the lessons learned to the next one.
We have another AX at the same location in 2 weeks.
Every event is another chance at validation and redemption.

I totally forgot about this. That's why I didn't show up. DOH!
Can't wait for the pictures.

Did any other FF members run?
Don't fret the "bad" days...we all get em every now and then.
For me, it's most always a mental problem and not the car itself.

What a great day for an AX !!!
We had nearly 50 cars turn out for the event which allowed for 7 total runs.
I wish I could say that I drove my best, but I didn't. I can say that I just wasn't able to get the tires dialed in where I wanted them or get enough turn in from the suspension, but it really was just not getting me dialed in.
Not sure why, but it was a less than stellar performance. Got lost on the first run - I have no idea where my head was since I thought it was a well laid out course. I kept over powering the tires and to compensate, I would adjust pressures and driving style. In the end, I think I was so screwed up that continuously fiddling with things made the situation worse.
just one of those days I suppose.
Unofficially, I think I finished 5th, based on the other cars and their times, but I haven't seen the final results as of yet.
The upside is that I think I saw a few fanatics cruise in and out to watch.
Aljenkins88 came by. My runs had completed. So, I wasn't able to take him out. Of course, the way I was driving, he may not have wanted to come back after that...
After a ride in Porsche 911, I think he is pretty well hooked on the sport.
So, hopefully, more fanatics will come out and play.
Official results should be up in a day or so and I should get copies of pictures I can post.

All are welcome. The Benz club puts on a good event.
Miniboon - It's a pretty long drive, but we could probably work something out.
Spectate, participate, whichever. It would be great to meet some other fanatics!
