I test drove a Cobalt SS, WRX, used STi, and various other cars and happened to come up on an 06 Si and after driving it, I fell in love with it...many of the things I liked about my SVTF..N/A, handling, etc. made me want the Si and I'll tell you...not proud to say it...but my 06 Si is a lot better overall car then my SVTF was...it's also 4 years newer...but it handles better, is quicker, the shifter is the best I've driven...even friends with Foci who drive my Si can't believe how good it is and want one...

The last generation Si (160hp) was not much competition to the SVTF but, the new Si is a completely different beast...as for auto-x, I haven't had an opportunity to auto-x my Si but everything points to it being a great auto-xer..the new Si even comes with a stock Helical LSD....

A pic of my SVTF in it's glory...

The accident...
First off, glad that your son is okay! Wow, that looks nasty

Secondly, I totally agree with your comment about the new Si! After test driving a 07 Si (it was a sedan but still fun), I fell in love. It handles awesomely, fun as heck to drive (yes VTEC is just as addictive as boost) & gets great gas mileage. We traded in a 05 ST for a 07 Si coupe & I wish we would have done it sooner then we did!

(Yeah, I know this is off-topic so sue me)

BlueOvalFan ^^ you aint lying there.. those things have more torque then the RSX-S

turbovation I like the IRL even if it is kinda...fugly looking. Regardless, as far as NA fit and finish is concerned, nothing can touch the new SI. It's the epitome of a pocket rocket IMO.

I'm just a TICK below 4000 RPMs at 90 MPH though, so it's not really THAT shortly geared. Ford motors are made to create torque, but the way Honda seems to get their tiny little strung out motors to put the torque down to the ground really does not make them feel that much slower. I drove an RSX-S for example, and was surprised when I felt like it had more torque than my SVT did in stock form even though the SVT was rated at 145 ft.lb and the RSX-S slightly less. I gotta hand it to Honda for the new SI though, they upped the bar a little bit. Unfortunately for them, Mazda and VW were happy to oblige! That is good for us pocket rocket enthusiasts though. I just wish Ford would follow suit. Soon Saturn will be better.
ford doesnt have a car that will compete with the IRL... they are pretty slick regardless of any preconceived notions.

They do have short gearing, 4.440 final drive at 70mph they are around 4k. I have a si tranny in my gsr. I dont know much about focus gearing. The 1.6 ltr has NO TQ. There again I dont know about the power in the focus.

BTW the 02+ si hatchbacks (aka 2dr odessy's) are slow as balls.

wow, as a mod I'm gonna have to welcome ya and thank ya for sharing the info. You may not drive a focus, but coming in and sharing, also seeming to want to learn, your more than welcome here.
We've had many trolls that pop in to just start stuff.
You come in being helpful and informative. gotta say thank ya and welcome to our world...lol
a car should be enjoyed for what it is, not ragged on for what its not and was never intended to be. Hope ya learn a few things here and enjoy.
