Read it all Today.
Hope you're doing OK Timmeh. Best of Luck to you.
Found this when someone asked about this swap possibility, didn't know about it at the time.

Joined to say I read the whole damn thread top to bottom. Now if only I can read a book like that...
Sucks about Deb, though!!! I hope that shit doesn't happen to me and my 302 swap in my Ranger. Read the whole thing cause I wanted to know the hardships of the swap, as I was thinking of doing this after the Ranger os done in a couple years. And really, it sounds like it would have been a LOT easier with a donor car. With the proper tools and the ability to weld this swap seems like an interesting endeavor.
BTW my dad just got a 2009 Focus SE Coupe after I joined a week ago. Fun ass little car!

If you wish to get into an electrical and tuning nightmare, go for it - but it would be simpler to use an engine without VVT, or at least install Taurus/Sable/Escape/Tribute/Mariner heads and cams.
Hardly the place to be asking such a thing, don't you think?

do you guys know if 3.0L Fusion's Duratec will fit? As far as I know it has similar or equal outside dimensions....
V6 Fusion is much more popular here in Brazil so it would be easier to find one (but a lot more expensive...)

a final note:
this swap IS NOT EASY. even having all the knowledge i do know, i wouldn't do it. for what i spent on this swap i could have EASILY built a nice turbo zetec and been considerably faster.

First of all let me briefly introduce myself.
My name is Alexandre an I drive a 2007 Focus here in Brazil. Please don't mock me but down here the most powerful Focus we have is the 2.0L Duratec with 148HP! Mine is a tiny 1.6L
Some pics can be found in this brazilian Focus Forum which I'm a moderator:
that's why I googled some ideas to increase my cavalry and found the epic journey of yours.... seriously, I've read the whole thread like a novel, guessing what's next.... the end of the novel was a little disappointing for me, but I know life priorities changes, and some tough decisions must be done.
I swear if I could I would buy you car.... I hope I can finish my project before the same happens to me.... I'm 25 now and some marriage pressure is rising from my gf.... I always hear I should stop "wasting" my money with my car and save for a house or something like that...
OK, let's talk a little about the swap....
I would like to ask you to summarize the mechanical changes you had to do to fit the new engine.... Here is a list of things I remember from you thread, please complement with you comments and observations.
- Transmission: MTX-75 from Contour
- Mounts: You used custom fabricated mounts, and some suggested minor changes with focus or Contour OEM.
- Half shafts: driver's side from focus; Passenger side internal Contour,half shaft and outer side from Focus;
- Accessories:water pump, AC comp, alternator, steering wheel pump, etc - Did you use all from contour?
- Radiator and cooling system - What did you use?
- Fuel System (Pump): did you use Contour's?
- Air Intake System: what were your plans? Would stock Contour's fit?
- EFI System: MegaSquirt - I'm pretty much familiarized with MS... I work as a calibration engineer in Ford Motor Company here in Brazil... that's why my major concern is about mounting and package... although i was good to know you used tons of autometer instrumentation.... one question regarding EFI: all sensor used were stock?
- Suspension and Steering: Is any change necessary?
With this mini guide I'll be able to project and try to accomplish a swap like yours...
for your information I'll talk about my country, and you will see that it is not going to be easy and very expensive...
here in Brazil cars are a passion, much like in the US, but it is completely overpriced... as a comparison the 2012 new Fiesta costs about 26K USD... It is assembled and imported from the very same Mexico you do, and Brazil have a commercial trade agreement with Mexico, so some duties are not applied....you do the math.....
Also, the 'Big" engine for us here is the 2.0L... all larger than that is HUGE...hehehehe most of our fleet runs 1.0L, 1.4L and 1.6L....We do have flex fuel engines (which is my specialty) that can run from E100 to E22 (our gasoline)... my idea is to have a E100 V6, so I can reach some extra power running on MBT...
For this swap my first barrier will be finding a good engine... we didn't have the Contour here, but its brother Mondeo was imported in the past... But finding a V6 is very rare and expensive (around 10000 USD)...I found some engines for around 2500 USD... no SVT can be found....
Parts and service for this case are very rare to find... we don't have the tradition to DIY, although all changes in my Focus were done by me. Some parts I can buy on US eBay but shipping and taxes make it expensive sometimes...
Well I think that's enough for today....
Again, congrats for your journey, I hope I have the same guts and persistence you had. Your help with these tips would be very appreciated.
Please feel free to ask any questions I could help (most with engine calibration) through PM or email....
PS: Apologies If my English wasn't clear enough or any mistype...

please post in that thread or send me a PM.
that's the easiest way to get a hold of me about the car.
