Dennyj1992 Mine has just under 83,000 now, and no dropped valve seat. I don't expect it to go anytime soon either, since I just had larger ones put in and pressed by a machine shop. Had the timing belt and tensioner done while they were in there too (my mechanic's). A new complete head would have been good peace of mind as well.

It's up for sale now, but if it doesn't sell, I'm sure the wife and I would be happy to keep driving it. She is set on it never dropping, since they pressed in larger valve seats. Not so sure...since it looks like a few SPI owners have done what I've done, and the problem still happened to them? Am I understanding that right?

Or am I just getting the wife all worried and in a panic for no reason?

TheTurk I bought mine with 122k on it, lasted until 125k where the valves dropped and I had a new engine put in (another SPI), that has about 7k on it. The transmission is starting to act up now too. I'd trade it for a better car, but I'm way too broke to do so, (I'm a full-time psych student in college, and a volunteer emt on weekends). I've always kicked myself for not looking into the SPI thoroughly enough. Any prospective SPI buyers, get a Zetec, just do it.
