Recommend you start a new thread.

First off, this thread is about making the door lock switches light up on a Gen 1 Focus.

Second - the 2012 should have a dome light that comes on when the door is open anyway - the easiest fix is probably splicing into and extending the wires to that light.

If you have manual windows - first I would check and see if there is a connector behind the door for power windows and they just left out the motors and switches.

If not, you will have to find one of the dash illumination switches that you can tap into, but the rest of the installation should be the same.
I'm afraid not unless I go grab a power door harness. It's more relief that I can tap into headlights or interior illumination. I'll give it a shot and let you guys know the result.

Earlier in this thread.

S/b a Green/Yellow wire for 12V on the drivers switch.

I did the mod years ago, but if you need me to, I can pull the panels and check if you run into problems.

I have a 2002 4-door SE.

I'm just confused b/c I thought the SVT was supposed to have lighted door locks from the factory.

That should get you there.

I think the lock switches are the same but the drivers window switch wiring is slightly different for the 4-door as opposed to the 2-door. I think that photo might have survived though.

Once you understand the mod though, you are just supplying 12V power and GND from the window switch LED to the Door Lock LED.

Actually - I thought the SVT had lighted door switches and just the base models didn't - maybe 2004's were different.

The mod is well worth doing, though!!!
Looks Great! I have a 4 Door 2004 SVT.

What wiring changes should i look for on the 4 door switch that I need to work with?

  5. 16-18 Gauge Wire (Threaded)
  6. 1/4 Wratchet
  7. 1/4 Wratchet Extention
  8. T-20 Torx Bit
  9. Power Source Detector (Clear Orange Thing)
  10. Zip Ties

Begin by using the 1/4 wratchet with the extention and T-20 torx bit and unscrew the bolt that is holding the door handle, lock, and switches.

Once that is done, pull on the face plate until it comes off. It may take some M.A.N.

Now take about 4 peices of wire, 8in each, and strip the ends about 1/4" inch, and start to twist the threaded end.

Now tin the ends of them so they will not bird-cage on you when they are pushed into the socket terminals.

For the following instructions there is no need to do any more soldering, all you have to do us snug the wire into the back of the sockets with the other wire(s). After that zip tie them so they are not all dangling around.......

On the back of the socket for the window switch do the following:

Put the ground (blue) wire into socket 1, with the Black Wire
NOTE: Passenger side is socket 4, with the Black Wire

Put the Hot (red) wire into socket 10, with the Blue/Green Wire
NOTE: Passenger side is socket 2, with the White/Green Wire

On the back of the socket for the lock switches do the following:
Put the ground (blue) wire into socket 4, which is the LED Ground.
Put the Hot (red) wire into socket 5, which is the LED 12V Supply.

And the outcome!

Here is a diagram incase you need more reference:

Anyway to get the pics again? Would like to try this. thanks

Tiger-Heli What I would recommend is making the changes as a new post here.

Then you can PM a moderator: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showgroups.php and they can copy the changes to the first post and delete your post and this one (if desired).
