As for the new rules, I'd suggest starting here
You have hit most of the highlights. The Focus is a good fit for both HS and STF. Beware, HS almost didn't survive the large shake up last year and may get chopped this year due to low participation numbers. STF is where I run with my SVT and is a good fit for most any Focus. The 2.3l 03-04 Focus is probably the best starting point for a Focus STF build.

So everything I'm seeing here is older than four years old. I know that there is a big shake up in the rules. No stock class? Now its a Street class, and you don't use DOT race rubber but you can go oversized one inch on the wheels? I'm kind of wanting to try it again. I was avid from about '92 through '97, and won a few regional championships and some runner up titles too, in my Lotus Elan+2 (C Stock second place), Lotus Seven, (ASP 1st place, and AP 1st place), '68 Cortina GT (DSP runner up twice I think) and 1984 Scirocco 8V (E Stock 1st place 1997 the last year I ran enough events to be a factor). I can't even find decent tires for my stock 13" x 5-5/2" wheels on the Cortina and Lotus 7 any more. Anybody here out there running over cones any more? I will say one thing: If you want to compete, you need to modify to the rules. If you modify first and try to compete later, you are likely to end up in a class where your modifications push you into a class where you are way too slow to compete.
Its still fun though.

HFC is allowed in ST as long as it is in the stock location, and it's EPA approved:

|thehubster||So if you have even one thing in a higher class that qualifies you for that class. For me i would be in STS but i have a high flow cat which puts me in STX. is that how it works. thanks guys.|

Good news there, I'll probably go with some 205/50-15 Falken Azenis then. I'm going to use my stocker rims. I guess I will pick up some SVT shocks/struts but not springs!
Do you run a front swaybar? Personally I don't think I will run one because it will just increase my understeer..

To stay in H-stock...
You can use ANY size tire... You must, however, use stock size/width wheels, and the offset must be within 1/4" of stock. 205/50/15's are a very popular tire size. Yes, people HAVE squeezed 225's on stock 6" rims, but the benefit is open to debate as they are pinched...
The SVT shocks/struts are legal, and a common low-cost upgrade (I use them). However, you CANNOT change springs in H-stock, so that's a no-no.

I'm super confused here, so decided to ressurect this thread. I've been doing some research on what kind of things could be done to my car but still keep it in the H-stock class.. Currently it is bone stock.
The stock tires are 195/60-15 do I have to get the exact same size replacements? Or could I go 205/40-15? Its kind of hard to find good tires with these same dimensions haha.
Also I'm still confused on what the rules are if I were to want to swap in SVT shocks/struts/springs. From above posters, this would be an illegal move, correct?
My car came with no rear swaybar, so I'm out of luck on putting one of those on as well even though other year Focus' might have one?
