Blurry ZX3 first car.. buy an under $1000 beater... then you can have fun with it and learn some basic mechanic skills also

Thanks for the responses

It's nice to get some good opinions about the Focus. Like Viney said, insurance is very expensive for me. Just for the Focus, it will cost me $2300 a year with minimum coverage + theft. I don't have a job right now so my savings won't last me too long either. I have heard good things lately about the car and my mom did the carfax on it too and it came out clean. It is a really good deal and all but I am going to have to get a secure job first (other than mowing old people's lawn) lol. My other choices would be a 1995 Dodge Avenger 5sp for $2500 or a 1997 Buick Skylark GS for $4200 with everything in it. Or otherwise I just wait and stay on my parents policy on a 98 Jeep Cherokee and 01 Sebring. But thanks for some incite on the Focus and hopefully I will test drive it this weekend.

viney266 Yes, it would be a great choice for a first car, just have your mechanic give it the once over.. The one problem I had with that list was...this is a young man, first car, some of those cars would kill him in insurance

BTW..welcome to the the"ll love it. It has a good aftermarket if you get into modifying your car, and we can def. help you with that!

soonerman77 Yes a 2000 Ford Focus SE is a good choice for a new driver. Hopefully it has the zetec engine and has all recall work done. I have had zero engine trouble with my car. Just change the oil and filter every 3k miles and don't drive it like a maniac and it should run like a dream.

ALL_MOTOR_ZETEC Yea, a 300zx for your first car? are you crazy? Don't get a car like that, because your gonna end up crashing or getting in an accident. Most people crash or get in an accident in there first car. I did

lakerdave10 I don't know if I would agree with all the cars an Infras list. I've seen new drivers get in enough trouble driving a slow Fiesta, not to mention a Mustang GT.
