BigRed03 i generally shift at about 6000-6200. It helps to keep 2nd and 3rd alittle lower in the rpms where the tq really starts to pic up.

Auto0utcast depending on what you have done, between 6000 and 6500 is a good place to shift.

PRTurboZX3 Thanks for the info... after i post it this i started doing research and found this cool site that has a tree simulation game...i know is not accurate since you are using the mouse, but now i see what you were talking about the staging lights.. and i see when you say launch at the 3rd light... of course in this game i get red light all the time... but anyway here's the link

and what about shifting, any suggestions.. or 6,000 rpm for each shift point is ok??

goinloco1 oh, and the best thing to do is watch the first few races before going out. pay special attention to the burnout box and starting line. you'll learn alot just by watching. and if your friend will go watch with you they should be able to answer questions you have as to why certain things are happening.

goinloco1 when you line up there will be a person there guiding you. at the top of the tree there are what are called staging lights. two small yellow ones per side. the first is a prestage light, the second is when your actually staged.
once the staged light comes on for both sides the lights will dropin a sequence of three yellow lights then a green.
launch on the third yellow(theres half a sec between lights) by the time the car actually launches the light will be green.
try launching between 3500-4500 rpm. youll have to do a few runs to figure out where it launches best from there. everybodies car and expierience is different. what might be best rpm for launching for one may not be for you.
dont dump the clutch and break the tires loose hard, a good squak is ok. instead try feathering it out to keep the rpms up. this is something else youll have to play with to see what works best for you. clutch should be fine, ive been drag racing on my stock svt clutch with no problems.
one other thing, if you dont have to go through the burnout box try not to, street tires tend to hold moisture in them even after a burnout which can cause them to break loose at the line. instead, go around it and then dry hop them to clean the tread(dryhop=quick burnout on dry tires to clean them)

Need Help on Drag Strip

Ok I have been talking to a friend that goes to the local Drag Strip he has a Kick Ass Buick Regal... anyway he talked me into go to the drag strip, but i have never in my life race on a drag strip.. so


What do i need to know about the tree? and how i know I'm line up right?

How should i lunch? What RPM should i have it? Should i just dump the clutch?

Or should i just take off normal like a daily driver. I Still have the stock clutch so I'm guessing dumping is out of the question, just need to know I will change the clutch to CM Stage 4 with fidanza Fly, but i won't have the clutch by then.

the other things is when should i shift?

1 Gear = 6,000 RPM to
2 Gear = 6,000 RPM to
3 Gear = 6,000 RPM to
4 Gear = 6,000 RPM to
5 Gear = 6,000 RPM to
6 Gear = Opps not SVT
