turbo989 I personally feel that any car can be made fast in whatever type of racing you want to do. But of course, you would have to set it up for that kind of racing. You cannot go take a 1st place drag car and tell it to race competitively on autocross track race.

Autocross

I am jealous. I cant wait to get into autocross! I have drag raced and road raced... well, not sanctioned road racing. I think the autocross will rule. Auto cross is like bracket racing. Brings the driver to the forefront but doesnt require tons of money.

Each places demands on the car. Just different ones. Autocross on the suspension, tires and brakes. Drag racing on clutches, trannies, tires and if your fast enough, brakes. Ford really didnt design the focus for any of it. It is my opinion though, the car is more suited for an autocross event.

I also think autocross and road racing place more demands on driers and their abillities.

focaltech Well I am not against it, its just not for me. Drag racing is alot easier to do and isn't as hard on your car in most cases.

Pzev I would recomend drag racing. Easiest to do, and requires the least amount of prep. Next up would be AutoX. Then road course racing.

EnigmaZV There are plenty of Focuses in BC involved in Auto-X, you'll probably meet a few if you stick with it long enough. :) Just curious Focal, what would you recommend as an introductory motorsport?

focaltech I have sen these events and never liked them. They are very harsh on brakes and suspension, plus speeds stay low and you only run for time.

Not my cup of tea.

Solo II

Anyone else doing the Solo II circuit in BC? I've got driver training coming up next week, then practice events with the VCMC racing club.... Events soon to come.

For anyone not familiar, Solo II is basically parking lot racing (usually a rented air-strip), timed event. Lots of different car / driver classes. Cheap / safe way to go out and push yourself and your car. I hope to see a strong Focus showing in the circuit, from what I hear the Focus is one of the best choices for going fast in the stock / mildly modified classes. Can't wait!
