You're not the first. It's simple really -- MPG.

Jburks I also stated that I have owned my DCT for two years now with out a single issue.

BluePanda I'm just over 170k on my 2003 zx3. Her first 90k were leased. Omg.

Turbo'd her at 134k. She's definitely my beater but pssssht!

TheHumbleGeek But its not moot... The previous company I worked for had a fleet of five focii, and not a single one demonstrated the behaviour you are complaining about. Not to that extent. All had the clutch pack tsb completed, and only one had just barely started to slip when it went it. Also, you can add in my personal car, same DCT as the fleet cars, never once had an issue.

Is it possible it was only a matter of time? Sure... Can a bad design happen to any automaker? Certainly, just look at chevy... Or honda... Or Toyota....

Some never have the recall needing to be addressed, others need it repeatedly. Sometimes its the vehicle, other times is the driver... And yes, sometimes its a lazy mechanic who never fixes it right to begin with...

Pointing the finger at all MK3's is like pointing a finger at all christians for the actions of westboro.... Or all muslims for ISIS.... or all robots for Skynet...

damonlan @NavyZX5; Do you know the model number for the 1.0 3 cyl Eco Boost, with the Chinese 6 speed auto? Does this come with the '15/'16 year models? I would like to research.

To the other guys, if I wanted the MTX I wouldn't be writing a P/O post would I. Sorry for the sarcasm. And yes, rentals are driven rough, but I rent a lot of cars and the late model Foci are the only ones that are crap, making that discussion a moot point.

NavyZX5 Rentals are beat sometimes, but if so 'scared', get a manual, or the 1.0 3 cyl Eco Boost, with the Chinese 6 speed auto.

Jburks ^^^ the mtx 75 has been the same in the focus for many many years. good trans. you have to keep in mind too that rental foci with the DCT aren't going to be the best to judge the dct off since rental cars are usually abused and not driven right anyway. I've had my DCT focus for 2 years now with no issues at all. I'll always agree that a manual transmission is better then an auto but for being an auto I actually really like the DCT.

TheHumbleGeek Get a manual *nod self*...

Seriously, all your complaints seem directed at the trans, so go try a 5MTX focus and see what you think...

'05 w/ 372k miles

I have an '05 SE with 372k miles. Never had a single problem, except an "evaporative fuel system leak" that was fixed with a $15 gas cap. Everything is original except for that, the belt, and the plugs.

But. . . . the other night I hit a very large ammo can in the middle of I-40 and it took out my oil pan. Very bummed out. Doubt the rings/cylinders will be any good now. Waiting for Ford tech's scrap or fix estimate.

Even more depressing is that I can not buy a new Focus. I have test driven 3 Foci lately at rental car places and I can honestly tell you, Ford has destroyed this once great car. Transmission is not safe to drive. I kept renting different Foci because I thought that it was just a quirk, that I may have gotten one with a rare anomaly. . . but no, they're all crap. I don't know why the DOT hasn't pulled them off the road, someone is going to get killed. Ford will get sued over this, if they haven't already, and they are going to lose big time. They should not be selling any more of these piles of crap. Almost got in several wrecks. Late model Foci shutter, shift when they shouldn't, don't shift when they should, don't stop properly with the transmission not disengaging or down shifting, and they lurch forward unexpectedly from a stop or when first excellerating. This is very depressing to me. For the life of me I can't understand why Ford changed anything about the Focus engine or drive train. I believe the Foci I drove were all '14s and '15s.

I'm dreading keeping up with the transmission recalls.. May I ask how many times have you had to have it look at, fixed or replaced?
