|sleepyboy||In that case then like it was said before, wet sand and polish and see how it turns out. You may want to look for more info on wet sanding and polishing. I'm sure there are lots of video's on the subject.|

I agree with the posts which is why the entire car has been gone through mechanically. First thing I did when I bought it was take it to my mechanic and tell him to take care of everything. Fortunately the timing belt had just been done as were the shocks and struts. Wheel bearings, breaks, water pump, synthetic fluids and a stereo install.
I'd post pictures but I haven't been able to figure that out yet. Thanks for the maintenance advice from everyone.

Personally I'd worry about the important maintenance issues that the SVT requires like t-belt for instance before worrying about the paint. I saw thread the other day where someones idler pulley failed. The SVT is a interference motor so it will bend the valves and possibly the pistons or cylinder walls which depending on which event could determine the cost. Check the valve cover gasket for leaks, which tend to make the thermostat housing leak. New spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, and maybe the air filter which I would go K&N with the stock setup. Also why was it repainted? Was it in a wreck? Get the important things out the way to ensure that you have a reliable SVT before you have a pretty one. That's what I'm doing with mine.

Do you have any pictures of how bad it is?
One suggestion is taking some 1000 and/or 2000 grit sandpaper and try sanding the clear coat down follow by a good polish.
Another suggestion is getting a rattle can of clear coat and try spraying over a small portion of the car (such as one fender) and seeing how it turns out. Afterwords, you can do the sand/polish on that section for an OEM shine.

|Supernaut||If you want to go really cheap, there are some people that have done wonders with plasti-dip. I never saw the outcome but I think a user here said he was going to plasti dip his whole car.|

Dried Fish Eyed Paint on my SVT
I needed a new car on a budget and although I really wanted an SVT it just wasn't in the budget. That was until I came across the 2003 Red ZX5 SVT I bought cheap because the cars paint is pretty bad.
It's all fish eyed, orange peeled and if the paint isn't bad enough there's places where the paint ran under the masking take on some of the black plastic pieces like at the base of the windshield.
I LOVE the car and I knew what I was getting but is there anything that can be done to improve the look of the paint without repainting the car? It's simply not in the budget and I can live with it as it is if needs be.
I've found a bunch of info on fish eyes and the other problems but the information is almost all on when the paint is wet.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
