Thanks a lot, Twenty! +1 Rep! I looked in my trunk and found that I'm in the early stages. The tape was pulling apart on mine, exposing the wires. It appears that there is enough slack in the routing for mine, but I think 1-2 years of stuffing my trunk a bit more than I should has done a little bit of damage. Some electrical tape will fix it for now; I'll be adding some loom later.
I think the mods should consider sticky-ing this so that other sedan owners can make an easy fix before it's too late for them.

|BigJohn826||Is there a way to report this so that Focus owners will be able to get this fixed regardless of if they are under warranty? It is clearly an manufacturing issue.|

|fenway1912||Same thing happened to my 2013 last weekend. Dealer fixed it under warranty but I think I'm going to put a section of plastic wiring loom over the harness to protect it better.|

It should be covered under warranty!

I'm having the same issue with my trunk lid not opening. Thought it was the fuse or the key fob battery, but no luck there... Took it to my dealer and they couldn't find the problem...
Can't view the links to your photos that you posted (blocked at work), but I'll try viewing them when I get home.
And I'll start looking at the wiring as well...
