All Black SVT Hey guys,

Well, just got an email from the lady (a week later). She seemed pretty upset because of the last email I sent her with my concern with the damage/salvage title. She said that I was asking questions that were "picking apart" the car. She claimed that the car ran well, never had a problem with it mechanically, and that she told me all her knowledge about the car she obtained from the last owner who "didn't speak good english". She said she trusted the man's "story" and that I seemed "not really interested".
Good thing I did not waste a 2 hour drive and gas to check this out.
And the search moves on....

Tarmac, I definitely agree with you that I shouldn't risk it, but the lady thinks its not a bad idea... Also, let me know if you ever come across a decent SVT for sale in our area.

Thanks for all the help guys.

BlckZTS The best advice I can give you is to take your time when your looking for a car. If you feel you should pass up, such as on a car like this, then do it. A car in better condition and for a better price will come along if you take your time!

GreySkorpion Well the new bumper and new headlights signify more than a normal "bumper replacement" from a wreck. My 2004 with 2.3 and auto with 116K was issued a salvage title after a front end crash. We replaced the front bumper, headlights, headlight/header panel, hood, grill and one fender and the driver seatbelt locked up and had to be replaced, no air bags deployed. Zero front sub-frame damage. No suspension damage, it was all cosmetic. So just to say it was issued salvage because a flimsy plastic bumper cover is BS, the fact they stopped talking to you is a red flag, Keep looking!! Goodluck!

All Black SVT swansong, Viperthreat, I totally agree with you guys. The sellers have cut contact with me thus far. I am guessing they didn't take my thoughts on the car and price kindly. I would have just insulted them with an offer anyways. Ill just keep my eyes open for a better one.

Thank you guys for your time and thoughts on my issue.

I own a perfectly functional 2003 salvage title SVT, and I still fully agree with the above. Salvage means any number of horrific things could be wrong with it. It might be perfectly fine, but it is not up to YOU to assume that risk. Wait until the price is ridiculously low, or look elsewhere. I was lucky, but you shouldn't risk it. There are plenty of good SVTs out there.

i agree too high of price to take the risk with a salvage title

ViperThreat waaaay overpriced for a salvage. Im getting ready to sell mine, and im only going to ask $6500, even with all the mods/new engine.

gold_zx3 I purchased an 02 SVT with reworked frame damage from a front end collision that you could easily see by looking under the hood. The repair looked legit and it drove great. For reference he was asking $4,800 and it had about 75-80k miles on it. It had the cold weather package with heated seats and moonroof but it was not EAP. I got it for $4500, and this was back in 2008. The front fascia was from a regular ZX3 so I guess that might drop the price slightly. So based on that, I would say $5,800 is a bit much.

Definitely check out the carfax but don't rely on it fully as GreenEnvy said and have a mechanically enclined friend check it out with you if you don't feel comfortable assesing it yourself. My SVT treated me well and my current car is a salvage and has been great to me, you just need to know what to look for. Good luck man!

Edit: Oh and check out why that damn front tire is flat...
