Magus2727 So going back it looks like the last real update I had was putting the motor in 2+ years ago. Was 2 years ago almost to the date (got it working the week of Thanksgiving).

To start off I attempted to make my own catch can:

It did not work to well despite having industrial strength acrylic glue. The attempt was to have somewhat of a filter to allow the oil to condense and stop from passing through. This did not work all that well. Although doing this allowed for me to see how destroyed the battery tray was holding my battery.

I Zip tied the crap out of everything to hold it up and support the battery but eventually knew I had to get a new tray or do something else. I have wanted to put the battery in the back and since the rebuild have never carried a spare tire (road side assistance for free tow). so got the Taylor kit and installed it:

The kit was nice that it came with most everything I needed. however I wanted to fuse the line form the battery (last time there was a un-fused line it cause me having to to the rebuild). so got a AN fuse and put it inline and got a positive distribution block to put up front.

One frustation I had with ther kit is the strand of the power cable was very low making the cable hard to bend and work with. This October also while at Miller Motorsports Park the crimp on the power cable at the battery post came undone. Due to my tune turning off the alternator at WOT I got stuck to the side of the track and got towed off. Which was awesome to see my homemade tow hook work great with no issue.

I also have gotten some adjustable cam gears:

I have yet to dyno tune them as I am still figuring out what I want to do for a new tune.

I also have run my Potenza RE760AS to no tread left such that even rain was scary to drive:

I got the new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's and like them very much so far. Winter is starting here so we will see how well they handle in the snow.

To make sure I no longer am running my DD tires on Auto-X events or road track events I got some new wheels during a tire rack sale:

Also as a celebration for graduating from my MBA... tires had to wait.

After some measurements and debating on tire widths I ended up getting the BFG Rivals :

I also fixed my breather with an actual breather:

yes its a cheap slickspeed amazon deal but it does what I need to pass Track inspection. I have the vent going through a tube and venting behind the front crossmember.

Finally also did something also with my front bumper. Reading the rules for NASA I did not want to put a lot of money into making it look much better for a professional paint job. I will be going back to a stock front and rear bumper when racing.

But got the old bumper in primer and picked up some rattle can paint from NCS for my paint code:

While at the track in October I thought I had a driver side transmission seal go bad on me (and I might still have one bad...) But after some searching and feedback from the forum figured out that along the lines my vent valve on my transmission was missing (unknown how long). I went back to look at old posts from my build and dont see it anywhere in those pictures.

so I needed to vent my transmission. I was getting fluid sloshing out and all over the place. Drained the fluid and there was a lot more than 2qts. I had at least 2.5 so over filling was also likely. unsure how much of it was over filled from me or water and who knows what else that may have gotten in from having a gaping hole in the top of my transmission.

So i got a fitting and some hose:

and put it together so i can vent my transmission:

Running the tube right along the vent line for the motor vent from the catch can. With that "fixed" I hope to find out at the next track day if I still have a transmission seal leak. I never had an issue from the vent but with the sustained high revs and cornering g-forces at the track I wont be able to replicate the leak conditions again.

Last bit of an update is more routine.

Needed to get new lights as one of my fog lights and low beams went down. Really did not have the $60 this time for the PIAA flog lights so got some Hella ones off amazon that are ok and work well for the $13 I paid for them. Driving lights I went with the Philips Diamond:

and they work well also.

For the track I had to replace the nylon line for my mechanical oil pressure gauge with a copper or stainless steel. due to time and money, I went with the copper tube. this pushed motor vibrations into the cab through the gauge and since I am still DD my car it was rather obnoxious at freeway speeds. So over the Thanksgiving weekend I swapped it out for a braided SS line -4AN. This has removed the noise and makes me complaint with the rules still:

Cant get a good angle from it with me already assembled. as with some of my stuff I for get to take pictures during it and am left trying to take pictures after it all.

I had to grind down the coil pack a bit to clearance for the 90* angle fitting.

cutting and assembling my own AN lines was a PITA but worth it and looks good. I had an issue with a slight power steering leak at the rack and needed to replace the o-ring on the lines. Next time I have to touch them I am going to go with Massive's power steering rack conversion to AN fittings.

I have a tow hook that I am trying to figure the best location for the rear. I think I will make some L brackets to I can mount it the way I want on the rear bumper. I also got some rear camber bolts to swap out so I can add some rear camber to the back until I get rear arms. the bolts will be for fine tune adjustment and the arms will allow for more gross changes since it takes more work to add in camber through the arms.

That about wraps up what has occurred since my last post.

This is a Video from my 4th session at MMP during a NASA HPDE.

First HPDE so was in Group 1. I have yet to get my passport book but since the instructor let me drive on my own for good part of the last session I think that is good sign I will be able to do HPDE 2 starting next year.

I am likely going to try to do more road course stuff than Auto-X. I can still be competitive in the classing for NASA but for SCCA Auto-X I have modded the car to put me in SMF and am out classed until I get a Turbo.

I am sure I have missed somethings and will update them as I think about it.

Next few days, huh?

Magus2727 Thanks!

Don't know power. I am wanting to get cams and get them on a Dyno to tune them and then I will know what power I am putting down.

Jburks this is a awesome thread! do you know how much power you are putting down with the built engine being NA?
