jimfocus I find my 2012 very quiet inside. I believe the consensus here has been they are quiet. I believe one person had tracked the noise down to actually being from outside - the side view mirror.

kevinxb Driving in to work this morning I noticed the sound is much louder in the rain. Anyone else? Haven't been to the dealer yet.

1slofofo I've noticed it's bad on windy days. I just pump up the music a little, though.

kevinxb Subscribed, I've noticed this too. Very subtle, but I could swear it wasn't there when the car was new. Maybe a seal has worn out or the door needs to be realigned. Has anyone gone to the dealer about it yet? I feel like this is one of those things that would be easy for them to say they can't replicate.

Zeeky Tried the paper thing earlier. The paper came out on the front left and front right door (didn't try with the back doors). It took the same "strength" to pull out no matter which door I used.

Even though I just got the car a few days ago, it is about to hit 10k miles. I plan on taking it in for a basic inspection/check, and am going to ask the car guys to see if they think the noise is too loud inside the cabin.

On a different note, I managed to soften the vibration I was getting from the dash material. At the store I saw a 5 dollar seat belt cushion thingy that is meant to go over the belt right where it hits your chest. I popped that in between the windshield and the dash material, and it seems to have quieted some of the vibrations.

chantspel Yep I have this issue too. Never bothered to do anything about it because you can really only hear it on the highway so I figured if I took it to Ford they would just say they can't reproduce it. I think its probably just a fluke as not many people seem to have this issue.

Bogey Yeah i got this from the drivers side door too. gonna take it too my autobody buddy, a well aligned door iv been told that you should be able to pull the paper .out

MetalMuffins I sometimes think I have the window cracked open while driving, and check to make sure that they are all the way up, which they always are. I barely ever notice it though. I will do the printer paper test at lunch...

Having looked through this site, and some general google work, I have not yet seen anyone discussing loud air/wind noise getting into the cabin of the vehicle. In fact, most reviews of the car actually compliment the car on how quiet the interior is (aside from some of the plastic/dash rattles that seem to pop up that is).

With mine though, it almost sounds as if the window is partially down (no, it isn't...I checked :P). Even in the city it sounds loud, but especially on the highway. In fact, a friend of mine was chatting with me over the bluetooth connection, and he said it sounded like I was in a wind tunnel.

I need to have someone else drive the car and confirm if it is coming from anywhere else, but for right now I can definitely hear it from the driver window area. It isn't coming from the front/bottom of the driver window (I don't think it is related to the mirrors). Rather, it is coming from the top middle of the driver window.

I have checked the seal/strip/trim in so much as I know how, and putting my fingers up against that area while driving doesn't seem to help. The noise is loud enough though that it rivals the sound I was getting from my last car which had an actual loose seal/trim/strip that I could pop back into place whenever it made a noise.

I don't notice anything near this loud on my brother's car (which, while it is a different brand, is still a smaller vehicle of similar stats). I thought perhaps it was just my imagination due to coming from a car which had a very loud engine (i.e., maybe the LACK of loud engine noise in my Focus makes the airflow noise on this car seem louder than it should be), but I can't imagine that even doing 30 mph it should sound like a window is down.

Any thoughts on this?
Take a piece of printer paper, fold in half lengthwise and close it in the door near where you think the air is coming through. See if you can remove or how hard it is to remove. If you can remove it, test on other door to see if it takes the same "strength' to remove.

cobie56 i will say my focus is very quiet inside w/ no rattles at all.. well, in the beginning the headliner made noise but a few well placed pieces of foam stopped that.

the only noise i really hear is at hwy speeds and that's coming from the rear view mirrors. they are big and i find they create alot of wind noise. neither my civic nor my older focus has any noise from the outside mirrors... I think the mk3 focus mirror is just a bad design vis a vis wind resistance tho it is nice and big to see out of.
