kevinxb Nevermind! I posted about this issue on reddit and another user who had the creak said he sprayed WD-40 inside the opening in the door where the door check is. I did this last night and so far my car has been creak fee.

There must be something inside the door that the door check is rubbing on creating the noise in my car, which is why tightening the bolt did nothing. So anyone who has tried tightening that bolt and the hammer trick only to still have the creak, give this a shot. If the WD-40 wears away I'll probably go back at it with some lithium grease.

kevinxb It was directed to anyone who knows. My car is out of warranty so taking the work order in wouldn't help me much. If this bolt is different than the one mentioned earlier in the thread, I would like to try tightening it to see if it fixes the creak. Tightening the bolt under the dust cap near the door check has not fixed it for me.

roswelltop Kevin, if your question is directed to me, I don't have the slightest idea.

kevinxb Is the upper dash mounting bolt from the work order the same one under the dust cap that was pictured earlier in this thread?

roswelltop I want to send a big, sloppy shout out to "focus_se"...Rob, thanks to your posting of a copy of your work order, after 18 months, 3 "door checks" and an offer from a dealer Service Manager to send the car to his body shop where they would cut into the door frame to determine a solution, I no longer have a "creaking" driver's door.

The car was at my regular dealer today for 4 wheel alignment. I showed the service advisor the copy of focus_se's work order. He didn't say anything, didn't ask to hear the creaking. He put the info in his computer.

The tech who brought the car back to me, looked to be no older than 25, has a big grin on his face. He says "I read that other guy's work order and I didn't think that would fix the problem, but it dang sure did".

So, big shout out, Rob!!

BTW...4 wheel alignment was $59.95 ($30 off regular price) thru 08/31/2016.

roswelltop Focus _SE, thank you for posting a copy of your work order. I'm taking that to my dealer. Really appreciate this.

P.S. Your dealer had your car for 8 days ??
