crice8 Here is an update fellas(= Came to my parents so I could use thier nice shop/barn. I got the JBL component system installed and tweaked just right(They screammmmm and are crystal clear) as well as amplifying my rear speakers all with a 4 channel and installed an additonal car audio battery. After taking the whole dash apart I decided I didn't want to splice into the wires behind there in case I decide to use a plug and play when I do end up installing an aftermarket radio. I tapped into the speaker wires at the kick panels for the speaker inputs and added in wires for the output to the speakers from the amp.Tell me what you think of the setup(= Excuse the wiring in a few pics. I cleaned it all up a bit. The GF decided to come by and hold screws for me for the door panels as I pull them lol

Kipp do you have sync? if so then you can get a harness that will retain sync features. however the sat is built in to the factory headunit and can't be kept if you go aftermarket. you will need another module for the brand of headunit you use. you might be able to reuse the factory sat antenna though to keep things looking clean. I was able to on mine.

if you want to do it the way you mentioned then there are a couple options. you can just tap on to get signal for the 4ch (don't cut speaker wires) and then disconnect the factory wires from the speaker. you will then need to run new speaker wires from the amp to the speakers.

the other option is to cut the factory wires and use those for the amp outputs and move your sub loc up to the front with the 4ch one.

crice8 This is true. And I have my sub amp wired to the LOC. I have always just put different subs and sub amps in. I swapped out my door speakers for aftermarket ones but I decided I'm upgrading to a component system for best SQ. The only reason I have not got a aftermarket head unit yet is because I was not sure what all I will neeed aside from the wire harness plug in order to retain some function to my message center. Also I have Sirius satelite radio and I need to find out how to retain that also. How can I go about only adding in the 4 channel amp to my current setup without losing the signal that goes to the rear speaker wires for my LOC. If I cut the wires behind the radio to splice into the door speakers, this will cut off the signal there.

Kipp also, i'm sure it's been asked before, but why not just do an aftermarket headunit with front, rear and sub outputs if you're gonna go through all that work anyway. will get more options and a better end result.

Kipp yes it will be easiest to get all wires at the headunit. are you planning on just getting signal there and then running new wires from the amp to the speakers or running back through the factory wires? also does the 4 channel amp have a preout on it? if so then you can get rid of the existing loc and run signal from that to the sub amp.

crice8 Thanks Kipp! As far as amplifying my door speakers, I guess the easiest way is to go through the dash removal process as if I was swapping my radio, then just tap into the speaker wires at the back of the radio? And my LOC is tapped into my rear speakers so I guess will just not amplify them for now?

Kipp the pin locations will be the same since it uses the same harness, but the colors may be different.

Are speaker wire colors universal across all gens?

I have the below link to the speaker wire colors but I wanted to make sure that its not just for 07 and earlier models and does it carry over to the second gen door speakers? Im going to pull my stock radio this weekend and tap into the speaker wires at the headunit for my 4 channel amp and components. Thanks Guys!
