Metalcrack One of them are here in Cleveland. Went to a LARGE dealer with ~60 Focuses...Focusi....Foci? and had 2 sticks. One with hubcaps and no frills, and mine, with alloys (since swapped out to 17" Ford sports package rims) and a sunroof. Wish it had the winter package too.....

This has me wondering. Does my rev hang issue have something to do with open/closed loop? Below is a part of a data log I did for Tom, its a 1>2 shift and a 3>4 shift (in purple), letting both drop to idle. You can see how the revs flatten out before dropping to idle. The orange graph is open loop status, either 0 or 1... I wonder if there is a relation?? This portion of the data log is at the end of a 25 minute drive, so the car is at NOT. Maybe Tom can chime in after seeing this.

Took it to the dealer and because they didn't have another manual on the lot they couldn't see if they all did it. Anyone else have this issue if it's even an issue?
Mine does this too, except all the time, and through all gears. REALLY annoying.... It only happens on a cold engine for you guys? It doesn't do it normally? When you're driving at NOT and you release the gas and step on the clutch, your RPMs don't go up a hair, drop to a level, then drop to idle? They immediately drop to idle?

How does this help reduce emissions racerdad2?

Hey Clark, I wouldn't worry to much man, the engine it cold and when you push the clutch in and release the breaks the car automatically revs up 100-200 rpm (anti stall feature) and in the cold its worse because the engine isn't operating as it should. Best idea is to wait for the engine to warm a little before doing anything.

Tyfocus95 Mine does that too, and I also had the only 5 speed SE on the lot as well! And Albuquerque isn't too too small lol

racerdad2 Part of the problem is the engine is programmed to return to idle slowly to reduce emissions.

racerdad2 The trick is to lift off the gas pedal, wait a second or two, then depress clutch to shift. Cold fast idle....
