tjbain If it means anything to ya, Besbro, I was in deep thought about this same exact subject!! I was wanting to actually use the stock 'daddy wire' to run into my crossover inputs. I guess I'll go ahead and use the dual black (thanks Ford) to run into my crossovers

Besbro Thanks, in the end I pulled my door panels off again, pulled the stock tweeter wires out of my x-over and capped them. I left the stock woofer wires hooked to my x-over.
Thanks!

mrpeaches The tweeter wire is just split off of the same signal that the stock door woofer gets. If you look at the stock tweeter, you can see the capacitor on the back that serves as its passive crossover to filter out lower frequencies.

The woofer also receives a full range signal. All you should need to do is cut the stock woofer wires and feed them into the + and - terminals on your crossover. Then run wires from your crossover to your new woofer and tweeter.

The stock tweeter wires can be cut and capped off with either electrical tape (not recommended) or a end cap style crimp (recommended).

If you followed the same LOC/Amp/Sub install guides as are on the forums, you have no power being fed to your speakers directly from the HU, it is all coming from the amp.

Besbro I am nervous I am now running 95 watts rms of amped power and an additional number of watts of plain hu power. If this is the case it can't be good...

Stock Tweeter Wires

Hello,
In the 6 speaker factory system, where do the speaker wires going to the tweeters come from? Is there a factory X-over in the door or are they direct from the hu?
I installed my LOC, amp and components today, ended up using the stock wire to get into the doors, then noticed the tweeter wires. I hooked up the black stock speaker wire (that was plugged into the woofer)to my X-over, but I also hooked the stock tweeter wire up to my X-over.
Now that I am thinking about it I am wondering if this was dumb of me? Should I be removing my door panels and unhooking the stock tweeter wire? It did have a signal coming from somewhere...
Please help!!!
