From what I've been reading the main issue is the VCT on the 2.5 head. Though Karl @ massive makes a delete kit for it. You'd also need the correct tooth cam gear. I think with that the 2.3 cams may very well be interchangeable on the 2.5 head, though I still can't give a definite yes/no on that.
So according to karl from this link CLICKY it seems that you can run 2.3 cams with the VCT delete. Springs and retainers are also the same so you can throw in upgraded 2.3's as well.

|sleepyboy||Probably like the SVT and made for that particular head. It sure would be nice if they made more factory stuff swappable.|

Do you know if the 2.0/2.3 cams physically fit the 2.5?
Or is it something like the SVT where the first journal is larger and they won't fit?

2.5 Duratec next time , its the only way to go and stay with a Focus 4Cyl NA , I have stock bottom end 2.3 with stg1 cams doing 180+ to the wheel
I have done a few 2.5 now but cannot get them to go to the dyno , none of them

I'm sure it would, but why would I?
I'm still at the point where it's going to cost too much to gain more power. It's cheaper for me to swap and start all over. The benefit there is that a straight swap unmolested leaves me close to where I am now power wise.
And if I wanted, I have a very low mile rebuilt block in the garage. has maybe 12,000 miles on it. Simply swap my parts into it and I'm good for another 100,000 miles.
The reason I didn't go this route though was that just in case moment, and I didn't want to dick with swapping the oil pump again.

|slow_solo_focus||would a rebuild kit bring that number back up to 225?|

Started around the 225psi range.
Down to the 180psi range.
