Elizabeth The antenna cable connects to the radio chassis with a really cheap connector. It is a push on tube with a wire inside.
You should check the backside of the radio to see if the antenna cable is stuck on good and proper.
It may be loose.

Is the antenna the problem?

Hello! I've been lurking for quite a while now but finally decided to make an account. Ever since I purchased my used 2007 focus, I've had trouble with radio reception. Everything is stock. Could my problem just be the antenna bouncing around everywhere while I'm driving? Because while stationary, if I angle the very flexible antenna pointed up, (usually slanted backwards) I get much better reception. I owned a focus of the exact same model prior to buying the car and I had no problem whatsoever, so is my assumption correct that I just need a new antenna? If so can anyone point me in the direction of a good shorty antenna I can purchase (Even if it's not the problem I would like a short antenna :P)? Or are there any other solutions you can offer? Thank you!
