5-SpeedAutomatic Got a new Focus. Selling my old one - if anyone is interested.

Chicago Area / Northwest Indiana

only 240,000 miles.

runs like a champ. engine is fine:

new alternator
new battery
new timing belt
new drive belt
new plugs
new wires
new radio

*front end needs some work. needs an alignment. going to replace struts. suspension rides kinda rough. and there's a crack in the windshield. but overall - very well taken care off for the amount of miles on it.

drewts86 and what was the final bill from the shop?

5-SpeedAutomatic from the shop:

*check for unstable idle / scan pcm found lean fuel trims. checked for vacuum leak found faulty breather pipe and replaced
*scope ignition system for misfire / worn plugs & wires
*replaced plugs & wires

that's all.

the timing belt we replaced was done right :) saved some $ there.

all done. back in action.

5-SpeedAutomatic I also got a P1131 fault code. Definitely going into the shop soon. Bummer.

5-SpeedAutomatic Ok, we try one more time - WITH the Ford Cam Tool Kit.

The person I'm working with is convinced there is no further internal engine damage and thinks its just a timing issue.

Thanks for your advice and suggestions.

BC_ZX3 Might want to try a compression test in order to see if any valvetrain or piston damage occurred after the belt snapped.

Yes, I know it's technically a non-interference engine but stranger things have happened.

5-SpeedAutomatic Well, we tried. It's out of our hands now. Going into the shop soon. (Or the junk yard...)

RIP Ford Focus ?

mikebontoft sounds like its off. at least you'll know how to do it when youre done lol.

5-SpeedAutomatic We replaced the snapped timing belt but when we start the car, it doesn't want to idle. The engine will run if you give it gas and keep it rev'ed up at high RPMs.

Going back to double check the timing / cam positioning / key way / check to see if any teeth skipped...

"Runs" like garbage, right now. *If you wanna call that "running"... it does start though. Backfires a bit. Definitely "off".
