Ford has refused on multiple occasions to replace the defective clutch that was installed in my car almost 30,000 miles ago. 14 months of bad vibrations.
The redesigned part may or may not fix my problem.
I'll never know, because Ford's warranty is worthless and they refuse to repair my car. (I'd say that they are refusing to repair it a second time... but that would imply that it was actually repaired the first time they changed the clutch, and it wasn't. In fact, it's worse than it was before they worked on it.)

Mine is do its 2nd clutch pack now at 30k Dealer told me its a new part # & totally redone...is this true?? I certainly hope so. Does anybody know for sure??

|parker246||I had a reprogramming, 2 clutches replaced and 2 weeks ago the entire transmission. I have not had any problems since. I am hoping this fixed it. It usually acts up before now.|

My original clutch was always a little... quirky? I had gotten several software updates but didn't notice the clutch chatter until maybe 15k-20k miles. I drove with it acting up until 62k miles.
Since I've had it replaced, it's been a dream. *knock on wood* But then again, I only have 8k miles on this clutch. Only time will tell...

Is there anyone who had a DCT problem, and took it to the dealer, and it was fixed for good?
I have to believe it is possible to fix it because I have a 2012 SE Sport and a 2013 Titanium and the 2013 has no problems at all with about 8000 miles.
The 2012 has over 20,000 miles and does act as if it has a defect. Since I have both cars and only one of them is bad, I think I can rule out myself as being overly sensitive.
I have a long history of manual transmissions and so don't expect it to drive like a torque-converter automatic, and I certainly don't left-foot brake.

That mpg is the same as my DCT equipped car: 37mpg hwy at 70 mph, max mpg hwy at about 41.5 at 62mph. My average mpg was about 34 until winter hit. Now at 70mph, the car gets 33.5 mpg. I also have found that driving it like a little speedster gets me as low as 30mpg before winter and only 28mpg on my last fill up. That was with me driving it hard most of the time. Quite a range, 28 to 35 overall depending on hard hard I drive it.
My old 2006 Toyota Avalon XLS got 30mpg on the hwy, 24 in town and averaged as low as 24.5 when I used to beat on it, or as high as 27mpg when I used to baby it. So the range was from 24.5 to 27 overall, but it was a much bigger car and MUCH more comfortable/quiet. The little Focus gets about 5 more mpg on the low or high end. At 20,000 miles per year, this burns about $400-$450 less per year in gas. As I have said before, about the cost of an iPad. My car insurance went up more than this going from the older, stodgier Avalon to the newer, smaller Focus (was $1200, now is $1800). So, counting insurance, I am paying more to drive the Focus...kind of stupid of me.
I don't know the price of insurance for a new Avalon XLS, but the car would have been $10,000 more. Given that I leased the Focus and it loses half its value in three years at 20,000 miles per year, I would likely have paid half of the $10000 across the life of the lease on a new Avalon, or about $150 more per month.
I've done this before, downsizing every other car or so and always end up going back to the bigger cars the next go around...

On my 5MT I'm getting 38mpg on the highway at 70-75, over 40 with cruise set at 65. Do wish it had better ratios though; turns a little quick at highway speeds! Kinda wish it was like the old days where you could just swap a rear end.
Love it though! Great shifting/feeling manual transmission, sporty, comfortable, quiet.
