If its still an outstanding Field service action/ TSB it will show up in OASIS as having not been performed, and therefore ETIS will still show it as being required. If it had been performed it would not show up as pending and would be removed from OASIS and ETIS as something that needed to be performed.

x2. I've learned the hard way to always confirm the part(s) availability before setting the appointment. Strange thing was that the service advisor had never heard of this recall, but the part was in stock.

Hmm, well at least I know now to always ask what I thought would be obvious. First and last time at that dealer, next issue I'll go back to the place I bought the car at and see if they do any better.

I arrive at 7am to drop my car off, having never been to this dealership before (it was close to work) the layout is a bit confusing and I had to drive around for a few minutes before finding somebody. Anyway, I dropped off my car and the service guy asked if I brought the recall letter with, I hadn't, but it wasn't a problem since I happened to remember the recall number. Just seemed odd, but whatever, it's early. Since nobody was able to give me a ride back to my office (would've been a 30 minute wait) I decided to walk the mile back to work.

The frustrating part was 3 hrs later I received a phone call claiming that indeed I do need to have the wiring harness replaced and that they'll order the part and let me know when it arrives. I thought that first the recall was notice enough that I probably did need the part, secondly I called and made an appointment specially mentioning this recall. You'd think they could've ordered the part ahead of time just in case.

I asked about having to order the part and they claimed it was Ford's problem, that the recall specified to investigate first then order the part if needed. Does that seem right?

Either way it looks like I have to drop my car off again sometime in the next week or two to actually get the recall fixed. I can say I probably won't be going to this dealership again after this is all said and done.

Yeah, I went ahead and knocked mine out too. They had the car for 40 minutes. I'm sure half of that was "dilly-dallying" around. I believe that they just removed the small plastic panel in front of the top of the radiator to access the small wiring harness.

One wonders how Ford determined their might be a problem. Maybe they knew the part was marginal in quality, but it was too late to stop the assembly line.
