Egz Well, if it got stuck on a floor mat it could work...

The linkage on my old 66 Mustang was mechanical, and could get stuck against the carb is you floored it hard enough. Pulling either got it free or popped the ball joint. But usually I would just shift to N and turn the key. (no power steering)

also, what is lifting the gas pedal going to do anyway? cable or electronic throttle I can't see it doing anything.

azdamay Why do manufacturers keep putting buttons instead of traditional keyed ignitions in cars? The average moron obviously can't figure out in an emergency how to shut the car off, what the hell is wrong with a good old key? Any idiot knows how to work a key.

As for manuals getting stuck throttles, why not? Mine got stuck on my SVT. I didn't want to grenade my engine bouncing off the rev limiter, but thankfully it was like 2am and traffic was light on the freeway. I shifted to neutral and turned the key off, and coasted to the shoulder.

Wll, technically hold the button down for about 3-5 seconds.

Chris_HT Now I'm thinking.... she's lucky none of the truck drivers assumed that it's a hot pursuit and didn't decide to 'help' the police :D

#1fordfan Only throttle sticking experience I had was when I was a dumb kid and had a Plymouth Volare 2 door with a hopped up 318 in it. I just hammered it coming out of a 35 mph turn. Well, the throttle stuck with the four barrels open!! My ass was facing the wrong direction and in the ditch before I could think about what the hell I did that for. I had plenty of time to figure out to turn the key off as the tires were digging holes in the mud. Losing your driving privileges and having to walk to work and school for two months no matter what the weather is really makes you think before you do stupid stuff next time!! My dad still laughs about this every time we get together at family things and everybody gets a good laugh at m expense. I should have kept that car,but it was so light in the ass end,it wouldn't hook up with the 318,let alone the built 340 I was planning to put into it. And it was a plymouth. I am a ford man now!!
