adrst2.3 actually it was about a quart low but the issue is still there i mean if its an issue.last night i added the oil and drove about two blocks and at idle it would sit at around 30-35(i know its not fully warm so maybe thats why all was cool) but today heading to work during stop an go driving it would drop to around 15 and set of the warning light so i dont know what gives.for knowledge sake i want to be properly informed about these oil pressure gauges so im not driving around like an idiot not knowing how they work an what to look for in the if you or anybody can inform me on what to look for when i look at the digital read out please by all means share your wisdom!

adrst2.3 Seems like i was little low on oil .ill double check tomorrow on the way to work but when i added some an turned it on it sat around 30-35.

Djzx3 Where is your sender located?

If next to the oil filter, then no 10-15 PSI fully warmed up at idle is normal.

It's when you start seeing 5PSI, there is a problem, or when the oil pressure light comes on.

adrst2.3 hey my oil pressure gauge reads low at idle between 10 and 15 but as soon as i drive of it climbs up to around this normal?.i figured at idle theres not much pressure since theres no load.i just want to make sure im correct.

fordcrazi since my engine desided to die due to oil pump failure i'll be putting a oil pressure gauge on the engine im sticking in.. The spot right behind the start is where im hooking it up at

definitely have that plug on an spi motor... i pulled two spi motors recently and noticed it on both of them... will be using it for my turbo oil feed.... 4" left of the oil pressure sensor...<from back of motor>.... can post pics of this location if needed...

also on the spi we don't have the same connection near the coil pack like they do on the zetec....

4) Route your gauge tubing into the car wherever you want to mount it. Mine is mounted in the dash above the ashtray, but most guys go with a gauge pod. I went for stealth.
5) Wire up to your running lights so the gauge is illuminated only at night. I want off the downside of the fuse. There's a clip you can get at Radio Shack that fits on the blade of the fuse and slides in with the fuse. Then on the other end it had a spade plug connector. Done. works great.
6) Mount your gauge and run her and check for leaks.

Don't be suprised if you hit 100+# of oil pressure when she's cold. It'll settle down after you get her warmed up. Just like a woman. I peg my Ford Racing gauge at 100# just pulling into traffic when she's cold.

I have looked at many threads on the "Oil Gauge Install" and all are the same..1/4 NPT by 2" long nipple, however, what I haven't seen is what thread it is...METRIC OR STANDARD.

Can anyone enlighten me on this?
