stefcio007 Installed the K&N E-2993 today in the Aldi underground car park, it's been raining heaps.
Feels smoother from start.
Will see how it goes long term.
If I get any positive results it will be not bad for ~AUD$75.
Currently sitting at 7.1L/100 km right now, hopefully that will improve.

sailor Actually my chuckle there made me research more, looks like you probably DO have a throttle body on your diesel.

And yeah, there are instructions/videos on cleaning them.

Emissions controlled diesels are using a lot more items not prev. seen on traditional ones, plenty of new tech to catch up on.

I was chuckling remembering how my wrist got figuratively slapped every time I called the fuel pedal a "throttle", not as clean cut a designation now (still fuel control first, but throttle gets used at times as well).

stefcio007 Maybe you could give me a diesel badge on my profile or something?

I haven't been that adventurous with this car and it's pretty new so I wouldn't be cleaning the throttle body, if it has one, yet.

sailor Good chance of some shared parts, not surprised at an identical filter.

Just sticking that in again to hopefully reduce replies that assume a gas engine & therefore aren't accurate.

IIRC some diesels even use some similar sensors (MAF) to the petrol versions, so I'm def. not sure where the similarities may end with the intake setup.

I know I'm out of touch with current automotive diesels, if you tell me it's got a throttle body I'm REALLY going to have to do some research/catch up on the latest.

stefcio007 Sorry, it was the thread I found during search.

The intake OEM filter is identical to petrol (gas) models. The intake box looks the same too. Hence posting here.

sailor TDCI is not a 2.0 TiVCT, the subject of this thread/section.

If there are no listings for your engine, all I can suggest is to research part numbers for intake pieces vs. other Focus engines to see if any are shared with yours in stock form.

Anything shared stock could be replaced by similar aftermarket items.

stefcio007 K&N 57S-4000 or K&N E-2993?
Or something else?

My last car I installed K&N Apollo and it was great, better throttle response and mileage.

Does it matter that I have a turbo (OEM) fitted?

Vlad_x35 Reviving this thread. So after going all 30 pages and doing a time travel between 2012-2015, it seems K&N did not modify anything from the original design, right?
Was considering getting one but would like some feedback of how things are currently.

bdashrad Just traded in my 2012 Focus for a 2015 GTI. I had the K&N intake on the Focus for a year and a half, and while it was a little loud, it wasn't too bad.

I had problems with the filter staying on at first, but gradually tightened it until I felt like it was secure, but not going to crack the MAF. Didn't have any issues with it falling off for over a year and the MAF was completely intact.

I returned it to stock before trading it in. It will be for sale in the classifieds section eventually.
