07 ZX5--great car!
Bought the 07 because Ford announced they were dropping the 5 door hatch and wagon. Previously had 2 wagons (can't recall the years): Forest green with tan interior--beautiful car. 2nd year we had it, got totaled by an older Buick, walked away unscathed. 2nd was red wagon with grey interior (I'm a Buckeye). 07 only had black interior, but still got the red clear coat. Paid for rustproofing (winters are tough in Ohio) & let them talk me into extended warranty. Dumb-nothing went wrong in 5+ years. Bought one new battery and one set of tires, oil and filter changes 2x per year. Now at 8.5 years with 53K, knuckle bushing slipped in rear suspension. Squeaks at low speeds, NBD I just crank up the radio, but am going to get it fixed. Could not be happier.

Mostly minor, actually the most trouble-free car I've ever owned. I've had it since new, minus 200 miles.
Most annoying thing is the random long crank start that Ford says is "normal."
My clutch is getting weak at 60,000 miles, but that may be from the first owner who only kept it for 200 miles then returned it to the dealer. I'm now wondering if they could not handle a stick... Good reason for a helical-limited-slip and a lightweight flywheel...
The clunk from the steering column that I think is just cables flopping around. It has not gotten louder or changed in 2 years and 30,000 miles.
All the body drains under the rocker panel being plugged with undercoating from the factory.
Reverse light stopped working.
Just started getting a clicking noise that I think is probably the tumbler flaps, but I need to diagnose it more.

|bullrunlover||It started cutting out too, turns out the crankshaft sensor went out and a wire was shaved off next to the manifold, luckily it still has a warranty.|

I just wanted to make sure you weren't talking about the manual tranny. I almost never hear complaints about it.
Wanted to make sure that hadn't changed!
Sorry your auto is bad...

|bullrunlover||It's both, a automatic 6-speed transmission with an automatic clutch, instead of a torque converter, found in almost all automatic transmissions.|

|bullrunlover||I've had nothing but issues these last few months with mine. It's a '13 with 29xxx miles and the transmission and clutch are definitely on their last legs, and on the way home yesterday the motor started cutting out on me 2 times and the display suddenly told me that an engine fault had occurred. It began to run on 90 horsepower instead of 160 and would not keep up to speed without me pushing the gas harder. I'm highly disappointed in Ford as they will not help us with this car, I'm not gonna buy another one, I guess it's time for a Chevy....|

Don't recall if I posted on this thread yet. Just took my Focus in last week to have them inspect the under body components. Wasn't having any problems. I check things out BEFORE I have any problems. Everything was good.
I've had my Focus 40 months now & almost 52k. In the 1st year of ownership, I had the steering wander on the highway as some owners have had. It was fixed under warranty and since I've had zero problems. No DCT chatter/shudder. No body/trim creaks. It's been a rock solid car.
Total spent at the dealer so far after 3+ years? Under $400. The most expensive thing I had done was a cooling system flush for about $160.
