MHartfield Late to this thread, but I concur that the cook hook is virtually worthless: some one decided to cut costs and not use enough plastic. The hooks might as well not be in the car. I'm tempted to go to a junk yard and find a coat hook from a dodge neon like the one I had before I bought the Focus. The "Pinto" mentality apparently still exists at Ford.

technoshark I don't even bother using them any more - they're simply worthless. I hang stuff behind the passenger seat, using one of the headrest posts.

Actually thought about using some 550 cord to lower it down

How is this working out for you? I seen these on Amazon and thought they might work but haven't dropped the hammer yet to buy one. I bought a clothes hanger bar but when I got it installed, there was no room above the bar to hang anything. It was snug against the headliner. Thought about buying one with the metal dropdown "clips" to see if that helped but one reviewer on Amazon with a Focus said it really wasn't much better. One good turn, and it would fall off.

Scougar Tie a rubber band around hangers to keep them on the hook when using them.
