First of all, this thread seems to be in the wrong section, but oh well, this is where the search sent me.
Second, I've got about 173,000 miles on my original 2004 clutch (I bought the car brand new 8 years ago). It definitely slips if I'm trying to launch hard, but other than that, it works pretty well. I've had the slow leak down the clutch pedal since 40k, but just top off the brake fluid every now and then and it works fine.
In the cold weather, it just started shifting very tough, but let the car warm up a little bit and it's manageable (I think this is actually old grease in the linkages, but maybe not).
It might be time to replace for me anyway, so I came here to see what I'm getting myself into.
Seeing the $1200-1500 range on here was helpful when I go to get quotes.
Unfortunately, my local shop that I trust also charges a higher hourly rate when you bring your own parts and then doesn't guarantee the parts. I'll have to see what parts they would buy, and how much better a deal I could get from CFM or BAT-Inc.
Any words of wisdom from someone who's had their clutch replaced on a high-mileage SVT?

Just replacing mine for the first time this morning.
I'm going with the LUK kit after 242,000km's, not bad in my books! (Original No TSB)

|z28forlife||I don't want to hyjack the thread but I have a 2003 svt with 64k miles. I have the stock clutch and normal chatter when the clutch isn't engaged. There isn't a recall on my vin number so can I not have the tsb performed on my car?|

|DOLadd69||Take off in first feels a little slip but where i notice slip is acceleration in second and third. Thanks for your reply even though i have been living in denial for the last 2-3 months.|

Thanks to everyone for your input. The slipping has gotten more noticeable lately. I have one quote at just over $1500 including the flywheel. I don't yet know all the details. Will post when i do.

Check around now, but the first time I replaced the stock clutch that failed due to the dual mass flywheel fiasco, the OEM replacement was actually slightly more then just buying a Spec Stage 2 clutch and flywheel kit (i chose to go performance clutch after finding out i wasn't going to save any money by staying with a OEM style replacement).
Once you upgrade the flywheel (OEM or lighter weight aftermarket AL whichever) then the next clutch replacement won't be as bad, but if you still have the stock original dual mass flywheel, you are going to need to get that replaced.
Count on very roughly $600-800 in parts for a full clutch/flywheel kit and roughly the same in labor to have a mechanic put it in.
Also lildudeinacar, the base ZX3 has a very different clutch and flywheel then the SVT, 250k miles is a lot, but a base zx3 driven easily might make that.
