Just start out with your local SCCA region! Just 20 bucks for a non-member, and you will be amazed how incredibly fun it is. Not only that, but you will be able to find out more about any kind of racing you are interested in just by talking to everyone.
Garyk - Are you going to the SVTOA event down at Indy this month?

Tim campaigned the US Airforce Reserve Ford Focus (4wd) a couple of years ago in SCCA pro rally and did very well.

|racerdan||Check NASA for some high speed touring. Here at Hallett outside of Tulsa it runs about $95 for 5 - 15 minute sessions. I've heard NASA is a little higher but not much.|

|Templar||Wow $300 for a 20-30 min ride with an instructor... ouch. I would love the chance to learn but that doesn't seem like much "bang" for your buck.|

nasa runs a decent hpde at summit point about 4 times a year-its not racing-you would need a log booked, rollcaged race prepped car for that. it combines classroom instruction with about 2 1/2 hours on track with an instructor (yes i am one of those loons who does it-sitting in the passenger seat at 120 mph). go to www.nasaracing.net for a look see.
