fokuzsport never heard of that problem either..

sydneyzetec Zetec 2.0L as well - very good choice. You've bought yourself a very nice car mate, you'll enjoy it.

Stress less about stuff you hear, just worry if it does happen to you. Even then, there are many ways to fix things. By the general consensus here, you're one very rightfully concerned owner purely becasue you've bought SUCH a good car that the idea of anything going wrong is a bad one!!! Never fear, you'll love your car from the moment you see it in your driveway. Congrats and welcome.

THANKS for the input. I feel better now.

I am excited about picking up the Focus SE with Zetec 2.0 L. Its not as sporty as some of the other models, but still, I think, quite sharp--Arizona beige!

Have a great weekend, all!

eggyolk You won't have any problem with your brakes, the problem is quite fixed, especially in 03.

I had the wheels off today for some installation, and the pads are amazingly thick.

Do not fear, you have purchased a fine vehicle.

vanace dunno about grease, but they sell a material you put on the back of the pads to help. And sanding the rotors to roughen them up stops sqeeling. The reason they squeel is because they get to smooth. It is getting more and more common with semi-metalic brake pads

"that can be fixed with some grease and a little sanding"

Would you please elaborate a little on that comment to cure squeeling brakes?

Thanks!

Not exactly.... Say you install a new intake and you have a problem with part of your exhaust rattling or whatever... they can't deny warrenty coverage for that.

But lets say you install your intake and some how get water into the engine, that wouldn't be covered if they proved that the aftermarket mod was the direct cause of the failure.

focus I believe the brake problem was just for 2000 models. All the problems were for 2000's really. I have no problem with tires.
