BigRed03 How far away are you willing to live? MacDill is about 15-20 miles from where I am by USF. How soon are you moving to the area? Personally, I'd look into townhouses (kid I work with is an Air Force Reservist and bought a townhouse in Clearwater for $65k and is paying less per month for mortage, insurance, and maitenece fees than for a comperable 2 bedroom apartment).

Place to look for apartments: Carlton Arms Apartments.

BigRed03 Depends on the area. Typically, around MacDill, its pretty expensive. That is where Davis Island (richies) live. Now, living close by USF, stuff is halfway decent. For $700+ a month you can get a decent 1 bedroom apartment. If you can, see about getting a townhouse/condo. If your military, there are VA loans that are very good right now and with the first time home buyer stuff, there almost isn't a better time. I know this because I'm contracted by Jacobs and know several people in Reserves, I work for the USGS however. Good luck with the living search. There is always something to do, more so than Pensecola IMO. Plus, Tampa Brandon Peeps are here!
