cost

the sanctioning body needs to rent the track, provide safety and track workers and pay a big insurance bill. it can easily cost 25,000 for a weekend. most clubs are nonprofit, but need to cover expenses. its really not expensive-i saw someone mention a tune drag day at 20 dollars. how much track time do you get (10 runs equals about2 1/2 minutes?). at a nasa weekend you get about 3 1/2 hours on track, a private coach and about 2 hours of excellent class time. btw, instructors work for free in exchange for free track time and lunch.

Lil_RedZX3 That's way too expensive for me! I would like to go and watch a race sometime though.

you would need to join nasa,35 bucks-that includes a years subscription to grassroots motorsports. i run for free in exchange for instructing, but for non instructors its usually about 275 for the weekend. if that sounds expensive let me say that test days at summit (no instruction or classes) runs 195 for a day of 5 20 minute sessions.

Lil_RedZX3 How much does it cost to run?? It can't be free can it?
