Here I am ...

Hi all,
another one from Canada is joining the forum (me [wrenchin] ). After a couple of months digging the huge amount of info and knowledge I decided to join the FF forums. I'm still learning the board's etiquette and features.

A big [thumb] to the guys who designed the interface and functionality behind. I suppose Tom is the main developer.

I'll be back!
Irene

Considering a Focus. Assistance?

Hey, I'm new to the forums, and I may be posting this in the wrong place (sorry! please redirect me if I am).

I found a 2007 Ford Focus ZX5 SES with 35,xxx miles on it, and they're asking only $7,500.
First of all, is this too good to be true?
Second of all, how do I find out if it has side airbags?
Finally, do you have any recommendations for a new Focus-er?
Thanks so much!!

[welcome] to FF!

Seems very low considering the mileage. I would ask for a carfax and have it inspected by a dealer considering it's still under warranty.

If it has side airbags, there will be tags near the top of the front seats that say "airbag".

Recommendations? Once you buy a Focus, stay away from here! You will end up hooked on this place and start spending all your money modding your Focus![grinking][joke]

I'm Deb, I'm from Canada (Edmonton) and I just got my Focus 3 days ago after trading in my '95 Explorer. I belong to an Explorer enthusiast forum and I figured there would be a website like this one, so I just Googled ya. Glad to be here! [:)]
[welcome] to you as well! You are a rare breed around here, female and a wagon owner.

Both of you should check out the other areas of FF and make yourselves at home.

Thank you so much Brindfan!

I've already carfaxed it, and it hasn't had any accidents, issues (except an axle replaced, and a front wheel bearing replaced), and it seems to be in great working order.
I'm going to test drive it tomorrow, and was wondering if there are any problems that Foci are prone to?
And I've never had a car that I've wanted to mod, but this one seems like it's already getting me hooked, and I haven't even bought the car yet, haha.

I have a SVT Focus engine in my MG Midget. Took me a year but it is now almost done.
I am interested in the engine, as it seems to be a really nice runner.
Has anyone found a good rev limiter for the SVT engine?
You might want to refer this to the SVT performance section actually. I am sure they can give you more than adequate answers in that section. Personally I am not familiar what a good rev limiter would be for the SVT. Post in the SVT section and wait a couple of days and you will probably have the answer you're looking for. Welcome to FF as well. Here is the link for there to make it quicker for you.http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40

Hi guys. I'm glad I found you. I bought an '01 ZX3 yesterday, and stumbled across the horrendous tales people tell about the brakes and recalls this morning.
I'm hoping you guys/gals can help me put some work in on it before it becomes a real issue on the busiest freeway in the US.
Anyway, looking forward to talking with you!

'nother newb!

Just realized I hadn't posted on this thread yet, even though I joined up about a month ago, just after I bought my new fofo. My bad![smackbum]

So, the ride is a Brilliant Silver '09 SES sedan, born the the Wayne plant in March 2009. In addition to the usual nice SES equipment list and a 5-speed (hard to find!), she came with three options. The first I had to have/deal breaker for someone like me who drives in the mountains year-round: ABS/AdvanceTrac/ESC. The other two had been ordered by the Oregon dealership where my dealer found her, and I took them to get the MTX and the ABS etc.: 17s from the coupe and the Cali PZEV engine (can't order that engine directly here in Washington).

The 17s are nice enough looking, except for making the Focus brake system look about two sizes two small, but now I'm also stuck with having to budget to smoke the grill bars, headlamp clusters, and tails a la the coupe, just so the wheels coordinate! They do help the handling, but really, Ford, couldn't your "premium" small sports sedan with the 17s come wrapped with some better tires than Kumhos? These things are a total joke in the snow, as I found out the hard way up in the Cascades a couple weekends ago.

The PZEV will limit performance upgrading under the hood rather more than a bit, but I like the idea of a PZEV well enough to live with that. No big loss there, after driving my 1992 Escort wagon for 253,000 miles for the past 17 years. My "performance upgrades" under the hood on that 88 hp beast[strongman] were quality plugs and wires, and a K&N, so 130 hp in the PZEV seems like a nice enough boost right there. I tend to put my performance money into chassis upgrades, anyway. The Escort (her name's Emma, and she's still in my driveway, since I couldn't find a Focus wagon to replace her) has upgraded springs, shocks, polyurethane suspension bushings, brakes, and Toyos to help her keep up her momentum. I'll do similar things with the new fofo, I expect.

I'm learning a lot from reading the posts on the forum; thanks to all who share their knowledge and experiences with the rest of us![ffrocks]
