2nd clutch on automatic 14 SE in under 2000 miles....starting to get nervous

I'm really starting to think that I got a lemon with this transmission. My focus is a 2014 and I've had it since Feb of 2014. Everything else with the car is spectacular!

I love my focus, honestly, but this transmission is killing me. It shudders, herks, jerks, bolts, makes insane rattles going from drive to reverse, grabs, I mean the list goes on and on.

They replaced the clutch saying it was bad less than 2000 miles ago. I went in for my oil change today and they're reporting that I have to have it replaced AGAIN! What is going on seriously?!

I love my focus, but I'm really starting to think that with all of these transmission issues, it may be time.......

/edit thanks for the move to the proper section, my web browser is possessed sometimes

Moved to the MkIII problems section where you can find more info./help.

Sometimes the replacement itself doesn't go well, and other times they missed the cause of the issue (often just do the replacement without looking further, such as at the actuators/linkages).

Thanks for that, the last time the job was pretty big, they had it for days and thank the lord it was under warranty. I'm just really nervous about this. My first automatic transmission and I'm kicking myself every single day for not buying the manual transmission

To top it off they told me today that there's yet ANOTHER update for the transmission computer.....Every single time I go in there's another update....The two clutches have been since the last update before the new one that they found today....

Be thankful that the problems came up early in your ownership, it should help you to apply the lemon laws later when you will inevitably need them on your side. Ford wants to sweep these issues under the rug, they won't be able to with your car if they're unable to fix it.

Consider it a blessing, not a curse.

There are constant small updates, kinda like automatic computer ones so if you have an issue you get the latest version when they do other things like trying a "reset" of the prev. learned touch points for engagement.

Recent major new update for any who want it, this one adds extra codes to warn of/record TCM issues for earlier warning & easier diagnostics (15b22).

Florida Lemon laws are a complete joke. Though I did purchase the vehicle NEW in New York, so IDK which states laws apply. I will say that if I have to go through Florida's I may as well give up

That's at least a little bit comforting. So they're actually recording codes which can help them, at least that's promising that they want to get everything figured out....

Apparently there's a class action getting started over these trannys from what I've been finding in my research.

Helpful, so very helpful...

I'm sure all the updates, new parts, warranty extensions etc. are just a sham to seem like they're doing something while really intending to make it as bad as possible so everyone will junk them ending the worries.

Bah, Humbug

The TCM codes added aren't specifically known, but there were not enough existing to even identify a unit that had failed for sure previously. Any additional warnings or failure codes would be a help, and have been asked for (and wondered at the lack of) for quite a while now.

Few if any are likely to help with the shudder issue, though it's possible when TCM control of the clutch actuators is involved.

Sorry, I lost my optimism and faith in ford 2 years ago. They bought our car back (after lots of fighting) it was so bad.

Yeap, there's a few class actions out there. We're going on years now, without an actual proper fix, just a bunch of band aids.
