Clutch backorder

Hi All, I've already had my clutch replaced once at 55,000kms (with the "D" variation instead of the "F" that was available at the time) and I now need it replaced againat 90,000kms. I have been waiting a month for parts and was told yesterday that they still don't know when they will get parts for me. Apparently, if you can believe the front desk guys at the dealership, they are only allowed to order one clutch pack a week to avoid dealerships from stockpiling them. So originally I was told 3 weeks, a month later they don't know when they will get them, and they can't tell me how many other customers are waiting for clutches so I would know how many more weeks (at 1 a week) I have to wait.

Does this information sound correct or am I being fed a line of crap? Should I go to another dealership (next town over)? Can anyone tell me the latest revisions of the clutches and seals so I know I am getting the right ones when the parts do come in?

Thanks All!

I read a lot of these posts as a former owner of the DCT tranny focus and I think they are probably right. On this board you can see story after story about long waits for parts, long waits for technicians, if they give you a loaner, the rental agency looks at you and says transmission ?

This story needs to go to every media outlet everywhere and also please add your stories to the NHTSA website as well.

My 2014 Focus was diagnosed as needing a new clutch this past Tuesday. The service adviser estimated 2-3 weeks based on how long it is taking for parts to come though for prior customers. They are a high volume dealer and do a lot of these. They have 10 in stock right now that are reserved for customers that have been waiting.

I think I will call a few other dealerships to see if their wait times are shorter, I've never liked the service department at my dealership as it is.

They had my part in stock here. I made them verify it was the new revision and they did. The work is what made them put me in a rental. Idk what they did but between that and the Tcm update the car is completely different in the transmission now. See my thread for the update.

I was quoted about 2 weeks for parts and that's how long it took for those to come in, but in my case, the parts Director at the dealership said he'd put in an expedited order for the parts. Not sure if that actually happened or if I got lucky with quickly arriving parts.

Two other dealership said that there was at least a month wait for the parts to come in, so I suppose it depends on dealership volume? The dealers with heavier general volume (sales, service) were both of the ones that quoted me the longer wait time.

Well I got my call today, the parts are in. Now I have to wait another week for an appointment (she said they had 4 clutches waiting already). So 5 weeks for the parts and another to install.

That's crazy I would have been calling another dealer to see if they had it.

I've never been happy with the service from the dealer. From now on I'll drive to another town for warranty work, huge inconvenience but it can't be worse than the frustration I go through now.
