Unhappy 2012 fuel system problems

This has been the 1st Ford I have owned in a long time and may be along time before i buy another. after having new clutches put in under a recall. I had it back for fuel gauge problems - To my surprize I got a call back from the service dept & advised it would be $1671.00 to correctly fix. Seems a known fault with a fuel system purge valve has caused damage to the fuel pump and distorted the fuel tank. As the vehicle now has 47,000 miles on it it is out of warranty despite a TSB noted on the vehicle's problem. Advisor tells me when the valve sticks it causes the erroneous readings and damages the system & at some time may cause the vehicle not to start. Guess I'll just need to wait for this to become another recall, the car not to start, or dump it and go back to Toyota.............. Really disappointed!!

Don't know the details/mileage, but it sounds like the causative part might be covered under a longer emissions warranty, even if well out of the bumper to bumper.

Dealer may not have investigated that, as the details can be complex from what I've heard. (what is & isn't covered)

You could get in touch with a regional service rep. if the Dealer can't do more, either though Ford's info. in your Owner's manual or Meagan's assistance here.

Hi bvlpxm,

I can look into some additional assistance. Please send me a private message with your VIN, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location.
