The exagerrated blender clunking noise , Ah yes what is that?

Same sound if it was a stick shift?

It basically is. That noise is normal. When the soleniod pushes in the clutches it will make that noise. But when you get on it! No noise. If you was shifting gears with a standard tranny you would hear similair noises at low speeds.

Im pleased with my ford dct.

Drive a stick then you will get the picture.FWIW

Yes, it does make stick shift noises... the same noise a stick car makes if you don't depress the clutch all the way while shifting.

Have had my TI for a week now, just over 400KMs and I really like it. Mostly stop and go traffic; had to make a longer commute downtown to a conference Monday and Tuesday; brutal traffic. Temps varried from -20 C to +5 C, in snow and sun. Yes, this is Calgary in winter. Am getting about 10.2L/100KM mileage. The shifting is very reminicent of a manual; I like how the revs and engine sounds remind me of the sounds from past manuals I've driven. No shuddering, nothing that shouldn't be there. Had the latest TSB performed prior to delivery. Early days yet, but so far all is well.

I have had my SE Hatchback for 10 days now (1500mi) mostly highway. I do get a bit of shudder at low speed and small throttle input in D. However is I use S I get none of these issues during stop and go traffic/city driving. I really like the auto shift manual.

When you buy a stick shift, does it not make the noise for ~600 miles and then the noise happens?

What you say more or less makes sense, but only if the issue were consistent. A noise-free environment for the first 500+ miles, with noises developing after that, rarely qualifies as "normal"... but what you say has the ring of truth to it; maybe there's a seal or coating that gets worn off or something...

Only time will tell for me since I only have 80 miles on my car, but thankfully it hasn't started to act naughty....yet. I hope it stays that way. This was obviously a BIG CONCERN and a major consideration when deciding whether or not to buy the Focus. With the reassurances from Focus owners and Ford Customer Service, I went ahead with the purchase. I rationalized that the TSB'd that have been issued or will continue to be issued will resolve any problems, otherwise, that is what warranties are for. Hopefully, I won't have any issues...but again, only time will tell.
