Switching tan to black?

Has anyone painted their tan interior trim? I hate the medium light stone and I think it would be ridiculous to replace all the door panels and console just to get the color I want. I'm getting seat covers soon, so the seats aren't an issue. Has anyone had success with plastidip on interiors, or would spray paint work better? I just want to paint the door panels, kick panels, and center console. I know I'd need a black center console lid to match the black paint, but that's cheaper than buying all new/used black panels.

All the plastic can be painted no problem. There's a few people that have painted various parts. I haven't heard of anyone painting the cloth on the door panels though, I'd be careful about that. You may be able to get your hands on some proper cloth inserts to replace them for a decent price. As far as your center console, if the whole thing is medium light stone you can replace it for about $100 to go all black.

Don't paint large plastic pieces, no matter what you use or how careful you are, sooner or later something rubs or scrapes something, and it looks bad..doesn't stand the test of time, then if you want to sell you have to buy a complete interior to replace it

I painted the interior of my exs f150, it seemed to stand up to the wear and tear. It was a darker shade of the same color though. I would just check if someone wants to swap or something.

I know the paint would get scratches and stuff, which is why I was thinking plastidip. If I sprayed over the old plastidip, it would fuse back to one layer. Or, if I got tired of the color, I could just peel it off.

Going dark over tan would be bad...every scratch would show through.

It would definitely be easier to get replacement parts from a junker.

I have no problem with putting in practically a whole interior, besides being a poor college kid. I would love to replace the doors, seats, and console, but if plastidip is only 6 bucks a can, I'm just going to do that until I pay off my loans. I'm probably going to buy a black console though, I found one on eBay for $145 shipped with the kick panels.

I got mine from abcautopartsinc on eBay. He sold me mine for $100 shipped with everything. Go to them and ask. Believe me I understand the money struggle for modding. I'm just saying it may be easier to just deal with the medium light stone until you can save up to replace things that you want to be black.
