Illuminated Shift Knob

I am wanting to do something more interesting with the shift knob in my FoFo. I have been doing some searching here as well as google and I ran across an official Ford Illuminated shift knob that looks pretty awesome.

http://accessories.ford.com/illumina...hift-knob.html

The only problem I'm running into is that I could only find one very short thread about it and it had very few details pertaining to how easily this fit onto the MK3 (It looks like it is a Fiesta part). Has anyone else installed one of these? Is there a plug already present to tap into for power, or is splicing needed? Are there any good aftermarket options similar to this?

If threads already exist for this please link me to them. I did some searching and came up with almost nothing, though I've missed things before. :P

Thats one pricey shift knob... Deff would be cool lookin at night tho. You are almost deff gonna have to splice into a power wire and find a good ground, unless it takes batteries lol, but I doubt that.

Yeah it is pricey... I was going to do some searching and see if I couldn't come up with it at around $80-90 if I go that route. I was really hoping someone here had installed one... I hate being the one to pioneer my own way with mods. :P

This one is guaranteed fitment for the focus.

Nice find, I saw pics of this when searching but didn't ever run across a part number. Now I just need to wait until I get my Xmas bonus and can justify $140+ for a shift nob :p

Lol, it is definitely pretty steep. I didn't see anything that said it was illuminated though. Honestly you could probably get fiesta one to work.

I merged both the threads into one - to centralize the links and any searches.

I would find out of the thread is the same size on the Fiesta and Focus (I imagine they are) and go from there. Illuminated would look hawt.
