I guess I don't know what it is called. Not the plastic piece that the boot itself connects to, but the bezel that covers the case of the boot. It has the powered by Microsoft badge attached to it. It the piece that actually clips to the console.

Yep, that's the bezel. It's sturdier than you think.

I got the steeda blue anodized shift knob, I can't wait to put it on. I'm thinking about getting the top engraved with the shifter positions. Make it a little more unique. That boot is no easy thing to remove though.

Edit: Finally got it all done a couple weeks ago but I discovered that getting the boot bezel up was a lot easier when goin from the center left side instead of the bottom right(passenger side.) Anyway, once I got that figured out it was a breeze. I new to get my hands on the Steeda STS next!

Thanks for the how-to. Put in my new knob. I got a basic plastic skull knob, spray painted it chameleon colors, put mangenta gems in his eyes and voila!
He shifts from a sparkly blue, to purple, to copper, to teal.

P.S. His name is Darryl.

So with your second picture it shows the underside of the boot with the OEM knob ring. Do you still use that with the drill stop? I can't seem to get the boot inside the drill stop (wrapped inside the drill stop but around the shifter shaft). Can you help explain exactly how to do that? And then do you have to use the set screw, or is it tight enough once you get the boot wrapped inside it.

Keep stock ring, drill stop pushes against that to keep everything looking nice and put together.

Set screw keeps it nice and tight.

And this provides enough tension to keep the knob from turning and keeps the shift pattern in the right direction?
