A New Focus Transmission Perhaps?

http://www.autoblog.com/2017/05/19/ford-create-or-protect-800-jobs-transmission-livonia-$350m/

"As for the new transmission Ford will be building at the Livonia plant, the company provided few details. It said it will be for a front-wheel-drive applications, and that it will be efficient and use techniques and designs developed for the 10-speed transmission in the F-150 and Expedition."

I also heard we might be getting a new engine. Some reporters who got a look at the engine bay are saying the engine is something they haven't seen offered before by ford on the Focus platform.

would be cool to get a updated transmission and a smaller turbo engine for the base engine in the focus. I'd love the 1.5T they offer in other markets.

That transmission is the FWD 9-speed.

Next Focus is rumored to have a 7-speed dual clutch.

Hmm 7 speed that's weird. I would like my next Focus to have a turbo. It opens up a lot more options for more power.

They have the 1.0 Turbo engine now. I think the next gen ST is supposed to have a 1.5T.

I wonder how a odd DCT can work ... ?

Hopefully, no turbo and pure power!

1,3,5,7 for one set & 2,4,6 for the other.

Wet clutch newer version Getrag DCT in the 7 spd. version would be the answer for that rumor.

I don't know, all the talk about decontenting and reducing costs with the next generation.... I don't think it's going to be as good as this generation.

Or there could be no more Focus.

I've been spreading that rumor as much as anyone else - but I have no proof. Could very well be a 9-speed. Unless you've seen something more definitive.
