Software Updates are messed up?!?

Alright so MFT has been glitching hard, since I got this car a few months ago. Calls wouldn't go through my car and speakers, they'd always be picked up on my phone, after 30 seconds songs on BT Audio would skip to the next track, it would often lag and freeze, etc. I did a hard reset and paired my phone again, and the system is behaving so much better, calls and songs actually work as they should. I looked on my cars head unit and it says CCPU version is 4.29.11. I looked online to see if I could update MFT but SYNC's website says I'm running the latest version, with the only history of the update being on December 16, 2011, running V2.11. What's going on? If a dealer installs an update, I'm guessing it's not logged, then? And is 4.29 the latest or is there another way to download the update?

Which Sync do you have? 2 or 3?

According your description it is SYNC 2. And the version you have is very old:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyFord_Touch#Versions

3.5.1 - SYNCGen2_4.29.12285_PRODUCT - Released December 2012

Current version is:
3.10 - SYNCGen2_3.10.16180.EA.0_PRODUCT - Released November 2016

Here is the download of v3.10 with the NA (North American) language pack
https://mega.nz/#!OIg2gTwC!TQPEqHx_0...-x7IOKnfHx4huw

1. Just unzip onto USB stick
2. You should have there only "SyncMyRide" folder and "autoinstall.lst" file
3. Start your car, engine must be running all the time, push the button and set the Start/Stop to off
4. Plug the USB
5. Confirm installation and that is all.

Installation time approx 40min-1h as you will be updating from an older version.

Just for clarification, you don't have to start your car, you just need it in the on/run stage (in the middle of accessories and actually starting your car) this will have the same effect as if your car was running

I think you can get the update started, then go for a drive. Just don't open the door if you turn the key off.

THANK YOU! I thought I was way ahead of the curve with 4.29 and everyone else had 3.10 hah! I'll do this when I get home. By unzip, you mean transfer the files from my computer to the flash drive? Or uncompress it, or what?

yeah, the file comes compressed. you should unzip it/decompress it on your computer, then load it on a USB stick

Extracted the files so it was the two that showed up, one being SyncMyRide and the other was autoinstall. But I plugged it into the car and it did nothing.
