Replacing the Wind Shield Wiper Switch

Hello everyone! Another proud owner of an MK3 Focus here. I have a question regarding replacing the Wiper Control Switch, but first a story to see if you all think I'm on the right path:

A few days ago the OEM battery that came with my Focus died one day due to buildup on one of the terminals. I removed and cleaned them, however my car would start very weak. As I was planning to get it taken in for a new battery, my Windshield Wipers decided to come to life on their own! Nothing I would do could turn them off, not even fully shutting off my car...they would still move! After a certain amount of time they would eventually stop.

Yesterday I got my battery replaced at the Ford Dealership nearby and they said my Wiper issue should be solved. Sweet! Well to my dismay as I drove away they started on their own again! However this time they stopped on their own and never came back on. Today was quite rainy in the area so with fear in my heart I started the wipers. Cool, they worked and turned off! When the rain stopped I turned off the wipers and within 5 minutes they started again!

I called Ford and they say it's most likely a coincidence that my Wiper switch went out at the same time as my battery...does it sound like a Switch issue? (I mean it's the more obvious answer it seems lol) If so I found a replacement Motorcraft part I would like to get installed. However I have never done something like this, but it seems easy enough. Also when performing the repair, should I remove one of the battery terminals? Or both? (The battery in this thing is an absolute pain to properly access)

Thanks for any tips and/or advice everyone!

Wire behind the battery according to my dealer. In the end dropped 1000+ to find that out but at least they work now lol
