Different trans, different issues... where to start?

So I'm finally back on the road with my 13' after my original trans decided to crap out in a big way... they recommended rebuilt trans. Was too much to spend, so I went salvage. Was the only way I could get any kind of warranty because of my title.

The good? Well, at least it runs and is not overheating and slipping. The bad? It shifts like an amateur. It takes over a second, maybe two whole seconds to shift gears. It's so slow at shifting that when I was going to pull out of a steep driveway, the car stopped in it's tracks attempting to shift into second.

The shutter isn't bad, at least not what I would call bad, but damn is it slow and clunky at shifting. Never had this issue before. On the last trans I had bad shutter, poor shifting habits, so I had clutches changed and then it was smooth as butter. You couldn't even tell it wasn't a conventional auto. That was before it tanked. Now I have this one, and it's balls. Plus I've kind of noticed this weird sort of thrusting motion that it does sometimes during acceleration... dunno what the hell that is.

I did get to salvage my virtually brand new trans control module from my junked trans, but it wasn't put on. I guess what I want an opinion on, is there a possibility something as simple as a reflash could help with the sluggish shifting? What about my TCM? Would swapping it for my fresh one help anything performance wise? Or do you think I am dealing with worn out clutches, or something worse? Anyone had this kind of sloth/clunky shifting?

The TCM needs to learn the clutch touch points. Not sure why the TCM paired with the trans you bought wouldn't have these learned already but it's worth a shot. Probably a dealer only type service.

The TCM I'm running is the one that came with the used trans. It was the whole unit just swapped into my car. They didn't do any reprogramming as far as I know, because I would guess the TCM was already familiar with the unit from the other car?

Although I do have in my possession, the TCM from my previous trans which has virtually no miles on it. So I don't know if I should have them swap that out, or if just a reflash of the current module would help me out, or not.

Can't swap TCM's without Dealer level programming, that option doesn't work dependably.

Did the Ford warranty not cover this? Or did you have over 100k miles?

He mentioned Title in the original post, so only the extended warranty on the TCM would apply for a Salvage one.

There are also failures NOT covered by the extended warranties offered after the power train warranty times out.
