My worry with the S ones is they look really short since the steel wheels are so thin. It looks like you may run into issues with the lug wrench/socket not getting a good bite.

On mine the flared part actually held the hubcaps on.
They bolted on with the wheel.

As long as you get sufficient thread engagement and have a tight fit with the beveled nut to the wheel it shouldn't be an issue.

The only reason for the lip is to adhere the cosmetic sleeve to the lug nut. How do I know this, well my sleeves took on moisture separated from my lugs and proceeded to be "ground down" by a wrench (after the dealer overtorqued the lug nuts on a warranty visit). If this ever happens to you the regular 19mm socket will be too large, however the steel cores are 18mm and that works fine.

Check your lug nuts, if you see the sides "puffing" out, you have moisture between the cosmetic and steel layers and your outer layers will eventually delaminate. The reason this happens is if the nuts are ever over torqued (which is common since everyone uses dumb air tools to remove and tighten lug nuts) the outer cosmetic layer and inner steel layer separate and allow moisture in.

Of my 20 lug nuts, 10 are bad; of the 10 bad ones, 3 are destroyed.
I had that exact problem with my last ST. Ford actually covered them under warranty, but when it happened again, I ended up buying the one piece mcgaurd ones for like $4 a piece. I liked the old four lug wheels lol.

Unfortunately by the time I went to swap to my winter wheels my warranty had ended... So I'm just using the lug nuts I got with my winter wheels year round now.
